    Spiking Drinks.

    Ive never heard so much hype and media attention about something that VERY RARELY happens. And now even Hollyoaks have jumped on the bandwagon.

    No doubt it happens now and again and theres some sick people out there - but if you believe the media attention given to it, you would think theres an army of wierdos armed with a medicine closet of 'drugs' waiting in every bar.

    bullshit in 2004 6,500 people reported being date raped, you could probably multiply that number by 50 for the amount of people that weren't raped/didn't report.

    Calling drink spiking an urban myth is one the most stupidest and dangerous things I've heard in a long time.

    date raped from being spiked with drugs? or just a genleral attack?




    Dont criticise an argument based on statistics that arent directly related to a comment - thats an apples to oranges comparrison Joe :)

    Just to clarify here - I never said it doesnt happen or isnt a serious issue.

    Im saying the hype around it constitutes an urban myth in my mind.

    a girl i know was date raped after a night in a Glasgow club

    she wen out on the thursday night and came to in a flat in the southside on the sunday

    neary 3 days of it she got

    all involved were prosicuted and convicted

    she has a little girl and its the sickest thing i have ever had the mispleasure in hearing about :(

    makes me sick to my bones

    and its happened to a few blokes aswell

    no 1 is safe nowa days :(

    and ur right Hollyoaks have jumped on the bandwagon
    its a good thing no in fact a GREAT thing

    people will watch it and take notice of it and not make the same mistakes as others

    It possibly is over-hyped in the media, but at least that way people should be more aware of keeping an eye on their drinks, and therefore it should happen less often.

    The media over hype everything ... at least some good comes from this ........

    Absolutely - I just find the OVER attention to it a bit OTT.

    Unfortunately sometimes you cant make a comment on a serious issue without some people being completely untolerant of anyone who dares to question the 'popular concensus' at the time. Its as though everyone is expected to say 'Oh yeah drink spiking is a massive massive problem and we need to do something about it'. Its issues like this and stuff like the whole Kenneth Bigley/Liverpool, Princess Diana mourning and mobs 'going after paedophiles' that i think as a nation we need to be very careful about.

    (Not a comment about you Nouvelle :) )

    I'm sorry brid buta large number of the girls I know have been spiked and about 5 blokes I know.

    The statistics were "reported" as its a very hard charge to prove (do a little research and you'll reach the same conclusion), my initial multple were wrong, its estimated that 84% of date rape victims don't report it... thats not spiked drinks but date raped!

    You do the math.
