I'd say that most DJ CD players you must stop or pause the disc before you can eject it. The CDJ1000 has a switch above the eject button so you can turn off the lock that prevents you from ejecting the CD while it's playing. It would appear that the CDJ800 and 100 do just stop the CD and eject it, but they are the exception to the rule and I can't really understand why they do this.

My denon and numark players must be paused or stopped before you can eject the CD, so your statement about "ANY CD player, be it on a stereo or CDJ can eject a CD without stopping it first!" isn't quite right.

Obviously a domestic CD player will behave as described. I did a lot of work with a radio station a while ago and the CD players were the same, you couldn't eject the CD while it was playing. I think it's a pretty sensible feature, don't understand why the CDJ100s and 800 don't have it!

my cdj1000mk2 has a switch on the top ("lock"/"unlock") which prevents that happening unless you stop the deck first.

The denon dns5000 wont eject either unless you hold in the eject button for 5 seconds when the disc is playing, and even then memorises the next 20 seconds of music. It wont eject normally unless you stop the deck as well.

    Just being fernickety ;)

Who said anything about a stop button... i said 'stop the deck' which is done by pressing play/pause or cue.

ive ejected the wrong CD loads of times when playing. usually when mixing from Deck to CD, after someone. Or ive done the opposite too, and mixed in a vinyl, then pressed stop.

Kai Foyen had a bit of a mare at the last freaky dancing right at the end of a class set with both decks in a row somehow managing to pick up big clumps of dust and scate across the record... once is unlucky, but twice in a row must be payback for something really bad he did in a previous life.

mine would be a warehouse party a couple of years back after i'd played the back room for felix da housecat... by the time i got to the warehouse party I was virtually paralitic, but apparently played both rooms of this warehouse party though i've no recollection of it at all... suffice to say it was bad by all accounts:spangled:

having said that apparently the second set i'd taken over the decks after the previous dj had fallen over behind the decks and just not got back up again:eek:

that happened to me in foundation too, twice in a set though not straight after each other, i think foundation may need a dusting. (or my house!)

done that before, usually when mixing from cd to a deck, you are so used to hitting a technics stop start button after a mix that you end up pressing the one thats playing.

Happened to me a couple of times in foundation too, think it's just shit stylus on the decks. Always take my own wherever I'm playing now just in case.

Mine would have been Thimbleberry in june, overindulged in the mush and ended up believing I had every mix spot on in the headphones, only to find when I brought it in it was totally out - don't really think too many people noticed though - looking at the clip of most of them :D
