There's a couple in Scotland who are proper swiss army knives, i have seen them warm up for PVD then play in the same genre as techno/house/funky/hardcore and then they play Hed Kandi ??

My love for trance has been electro cardiogrammed recently with some great mixes coming from the less usual suspects recently .... maybe its time for a new wave of talent.

Why would you need to practice if you were good at it?

Practicing sets is a no no.....i think you'll find i am correct

Maybe not whole sets, but practising in general is always a good idea. Being good at something doesn't mean that you can't try out new things etc, and improve your skills.

the ones who dont spend anytime getting to know records inside out are usually the ones who play the same old gash

You'll find people like Hawtin, Zabiela and Tenaglia spend hours listening to and mixing music....every DJ will know which records go well together and this only comes from practice

People seem to think that DJ's are beings of another world

Ronaldinho is arguably the best footballer in the world; in a recent interview he said he spends hours on the internet watching videos of amateurs doing tricks and then goes out and practises them

THATS CALLED RESEARCH.....practicing is for beginners and bedroom dj's.

I'm sure most big dj's wouldnt be very happy if you asked him if he's practiced much lately.

    Semantics.

Surely practising a set would be called rehearsing?
