excellent idea seriously though, they aint pants, there is some great benefits of broadband....just alot of security issues at the moment...which are more often than not down to the people running wireless networks not even enabling the most basic security functions on their harware (WEP...wireless encryption) The cards though, are not flimsy....but it depends how much you want to pay...a 20 quid card will be decent for use around the house, but will most likely have poor security features and poor signal strength...this of course is opposed in the most extreme form by cards from the likes of Cisco Systems...which can get up close to the 1000 quid mark in some cases fair comment like. Im going wireless soon cos im sick of dredging a cable between rooms for my network bridge, plus uni has had wireless routers installed so i will be able to sit anywhere and get online soon
thats all u need innit? u need 2 devices...1 for PC 1 for laptop... the USB ones for the pc and the PCMCIA ones for laptop...plug em both in and they will happily talk to each other thru the air
Yeah you will need an access point in which you connect your connection into. http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/prod...2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=42576 seems fine. then again didnt you post a link earler with a card and access point package? cos that seemed very good value.
am I missing summit ere I thought u only needed access point if u were connecting more than 2 pc's together? I had a wireless network running with 2 pc's...all I used was the PCMCIA card and the USB device I posted links to earlier...nothing else...
Yeah thats what i would do, but Che said earlier that only his laptop goes on the net....so there is nothing to bridge which means he will need an access point personally i would go for the first option, BUT the machine that connects to the net always has to be on in order for the other machine to get online....but i dont think there is a pc involved here :S PS - You dont just have to have an access point if there are more than two pcs involved, some people wont want to have to use a server, others will only have once machine eg laptop to go online...so ya need access point/wireless router
  hahah - if only i read the thread from the start che - just go with wot other guys said lol!
