Smartie you don't like Techno because it has nothing to do with you & your girly ways.

Stop feeling so threatened by it all.

You truely could represent the UK at the nobhead Olympics.

Techno is without a doubt one of the greatest types of music around at the moment.

I started my clubbing career as a hard house girl and have been for 4, nearly 5 years and I LOVE IT DEARLY!

But recently I've been shown the world of music which is so much more of a buzz than the current commercial clubbing is at the moment!

I love the twists and turns in Techno which make each tune soo unbelievably unique to listen to!

Dont get me wrong, I'll be forever a hard house girl (to some peoples discust!) but the point is that Techno has something totally different to offer as oppose to the current repetitive and boring material which is destroying club land as we know it!

The new generation of clubbers dont care about the music, its all about getting smashed, thinking they're cyberkids with their discounted cyber dog tops and a couple of spots on their face!

These people, im sorry all seem to follow the trance and harder end of the market and are frankly ruining it for us!

It is any wonder people why are learning to appreciate new types of music!

The kind of Techno I like and the kind of Techno so many people on the board like are completely different things. Most people on here would probably call my fave's electro, where as I would call yours Hard House. In my eyes, real Techno needs an element of soul, which the like of Picotto's 'Techno' doesn't seem to have.

    oh what have I started

Now i'm no expert on Picotto (having only heard one cd) but it sounds like hard house AND techno to me. Can't say I liked it much either. Prefer that detroit sound as played by Jeff Mills, Richie Hawtin, Robin Hood etc

Simon I likes electro - its musical, its interesting, its nice on the ear, unlike say picotto, vath, hawtin, clarke most electro sets have what you call soul - what I call musical qualities.

Whenever I'm trying to introduce dance hating rock fiends to dance I introduce them through funky house/electro/floaty trance - making the jump from The Who to MAW/Miss Kitten/Armin Van Buuren is very easy as this music is nice on the ear.

Techno aint its just a noise, call me narrow minded, call me an "olympic nob head".... It doesn't change the fact that in comparisson to most dance genres techno is a lot harder to get into as it bores the tits off a lot of folk.

I too enjoy certain techno DJ's:

    Castrillion
    Ali Wilson
    The Geezer
    Rafael Araujo
    Nick Rampant
    Spero
    Animatek

All Acid Techno dj's.. Acid I find interesting it takes the hard evil edge of techno beats and applies lab 4 type acxd qualities to it - in my eyes this makes it interesting and pallatable - I know the likes of simon e and technofish will hate it - but ti floats my baot :p

I just can't get into the likes of vath, umek, clarke as the same monotonous beat for 2 hours - I have a very short concentration span.

The only time I enjoy techno is when the odd quality tune is dropped into another set, say a trance dj drops The Geezer - Raw 10, Umek - Gatex or even DJ Elite - Fuct Camera... This is when tehcno actually sound good you get all that energy in one little burst - instead of waiting two hours for the set to climax and when it finally does it sounds so similar to everything before it aint energetic its just a familiar noise.

not at all. listen to mills @ virgin club fg 25/9/02 he plays strings of life, and blackwater. which defo arent monotonous ;) when my friend saw him the other month he played kings of tomorrow - finally... thing is, there is a LOT of techno out there whats not just repetitive, theres some really good tunes that arent just banging. really funky stuff too, almost funky house... as you said tho, at end of day its just down to what floats your boat :) sometimes i find techno to be a bit much, thats usually on a sunday morning after returning from a big night ;) want somethin bit more chilled and funky then... deee-lite - groove is in the heart, for example :D

Re: Why do you love techno?

I love techno because its music with structure, a Techno set is not simply playing one tune after the other it takes intelligence to put a good techno set together and when done right it creates more energy than any hard house set can and at the same time can take you on a journey more than any Trance/Prog set can...

I sugest watching Sven Vath or Laurent Garnier DJ, not just listen to a mix actually go and see them and you will maybe begin to understand the power of techno music!
