    @ Damocles385

Now I think DJ Scot Project would go down a storm at Promise - his style may be hard but it has a VERY uplifting edge to it that drives you on :D Never heard a set done by him yet, but based on his productions so far he's one of the few DJ's I highly rate

    @ PillyPhil

I agree there, Mauro is good but a 3 hour set was too long - by 3am I was just waiting for that one uplifting track that would tease me back to the floor - one of Mauro's classics we all know and love. I am by no means disrespecting Picotto but it was not one of his better sets.

scot project as a dj aint as good as he is a producer...as with picotto he doesnt really vary his sets enough...everything therefore sounds the same....even the mighty 2nd trip didnt sound special when i heard scot project...this was for four hours though so maybe a normal 2 hour set would benefit him

as for picotto...i knew before i went that i wouldnt enjoy him but he did seem to play a below standard set even by his standards...his style aint my thing but for some reason he is the dj i have seen the most...and i have heard him play much better than he did on friday... ALOT of people i know hated it....but then again the club was still rammed at the end of his set so maybe alot of people did really enjoy it...or just stayed for matt?

not meaning to put the night down though cos it was still amazin and even though i dont like picotto he deffo should be back on at promise as he attracts a massive crowd which is a good thing:)

I enjoyed the first 45 minutes and the last 45 minutes, the bit in between was just too much for my poor head to handle!!!! To be honest, I would normally have danced most of the way through the set but I needed very regular breaks (being a fat bastard I don't mix well with heat!).

Would just like to say that I thought Mark and Promise got it spot on

    Corvin was wet and hard
Mr P was hard as ever
    Matty was uplifting and trancey

A good mix for everything about Promise, presenting the different styles of Promise, celebrating the 2ND BIRTHDAY

So EVERYONE enjoyed the night, instead of having just uplifting trance or giving it hard

    WELL DONE PROMISE

Remeber 2 years ago we had nothing like Promise and now the future is very bright!!!!!!

I thought that Mauro Picotto was pants! He may as well have had the same record on all night! Repetitive beats that box your head in, thats all I heard! That, teamed with the heat, and the amount of rude beer heads that bumped into me just about finished me off!

However, on a more positive note, Corvin Dalek was rather good! I enjoyed his set and thought I was in for a rocking night, how wrong can you be!

    :confused::p :D

I think I was too drunk when he played!! But did enjoy it still, I always do, makes a change!!

I dunno if im the only one, coz i aint really read all the posts, but i like the heavy pounding beats, coz usually u know hes gonna keep the crowd goin with this until he does drop a wicked tune, but u dont know exactly when this tune is gonna come...

Anticipation!! I liked him, and always will!!

I think less voda would have helped even more though!!

i use to rave and rave about how good picotto was though.. since the start of 2001 i really have lost count of how many times i've seen him.. quite rediculous really, and the birthday confirmed for me that i am bored of his style. i still enjoy techno music.. but i'd much prefer to go see dave clarke than picotto if i want to hear techno music.

POUNDING POUNDING TECHNO MUSIC :D :D

I thought Picotto sent the crowd absolutely jumping for 3 hours. Everyone was loving it where I was standing.

Mixing was class, set was banging, and more crowd interaction than you could ask for (can't be easy to mix when people keep handing you t-shirts to sign and shaking your hand, most DJ's save all that for when they've finished their set!).

There's only one performance I've ever seent that topped his. He ruled.

Corvin Dalek was class too. Anyone remember any of his tunes? First time I've ever seen him. He seems to be quite underrated.

As for trance dying, it isn't. But it has moved on. Epic tunes like Rank 1 Airwave have really had their day. The odd tune is still coming out with a similar feel to it (take "Altitude - Altitude (shokk mix)" as an example, Hardwick played that). But there are only so many of those tunes you can make.

Trance is moving on because a lot of it has been done to death. Tunes like Massive, Airwave, Madagascar and Altitude. They're way too similar. I think modern trance is making much more use of synths and adding a harder feel. Cosmic Gate sort of style. I believe that is what is taking over the trance world, as more and more tunes like that are coming out. Check out "Das Licht - Take Off" and "Cosmic Gate - The Truth". I believe this year is going to see a lot of tunes in that style, but I could well be wrong.

Trance is going hard but not in the cosmic gate sense (at leats in my eyes) its going tidy, you just need to look at the success of heavens - cry till tears do us part, through to signum - what ya got for me... the tidy trance series are huge in every club from crasher to sundissential :D

I love unintelligent cheesey hard music :D

I think picotto is brilliant. The first time he was there was like smart e said one of my top nights in promise. This time round not as much of an impact. But as always the start and finish to his set were amazing its just that little bit in the middle that seems to loose its energy. Plus the fact it was so hot i had sweated most of my bodys water supply and was knackered thanks to yet another blinder from Corvin Dalek. But still bring on more picotto!!!:D
