I'd look like a tit as the board wouldn't match my ability :D

The apo's are lovely boards and I'm hearing nothing but good stuff about them, been offered a few test boards from last season but the graphics on this seasons are devine

I'm a competent intermidiate, I'm comfortable with small amounts of air, never attempted a rail in my life (not really any desire to either), prefer to board for fun - I'm not very steezy.

I've had mixed reports about flows, the cheap ones seem to be a pile of shit - but the more expensive ones are meant to be much better... I know people who suffer the same strap pains as me and toe caps have made no difference.

Flows are meant to fall over in pow though... which could pose a bit of a problem as thats the direction I hope to go this year :(

seriously though i'm not good on picking boards sorry!

However I love it, I've only done it a couple of times as Ive always done skiing from being 5. I want to get better at boarding though, thinking of going next year if anyone has any recommendations of where to go let me know,

depends on your budget and what you want from the holiday... I've only boarded in Europe - canada, usa and s. america are meant to be amazing but I've yet to try them... I might go away to Canada this season but I've already got serbia and slovakia booked, a third holiday might be a tad greedy :D

you should definatly convert to boarding - ski'ing is for europeans and old people.

hmmm thanks, I do like skiing though. I found boarding hysterical the first time I tried, I kept falling off the t-bar lifts I had no control it was fun, but after 4 days I got more of the hang of it and turning etc. Not done that much of it but its just generally cooler isn't it. lol

My friend is going to do a ski season out in canada this year so I might try and pop over if I can magic some money up.

3 holidays....might seem greedy to some but i'd say its more getting the most out of the planet we live on.

It's easier to look cooler boarding, and you look better in the park.

However, there's nothing to touch skis on the pistes :D

who wants to spend all their holiday on groomed pistes?

the only time ski's are superior to boards is on drag lifts.

To be fair, snowboarding is for ponces. Learn to ski.

Snowboarding attracts the wannabe's - but all the hottest birds and young people are on snowboards.

Skiing looks alright - but being on a board feels like its 10 times more fun than just going down a mountain in a straight line, on the designated pistes.

Ive never felt more alive than being on the top of a mountain with a black run below me and 2 days of snowboard tuition .... Pure fear and adrenaline and only one way down.

Im a proper old man, for me nothing beats cruising back country (by back country I mean the side of the piste ;)) at moderate speeds.

Thats where ill be spending my time aswell ... where the powder is still soft enough for a nice run.

Still a good while away before i tackle the harder slopes without spending most of my time feathering it down - defeats the point of boarding if your spending most of your time bricking it from fear of death :)

To agree with Brid, snowboarding attracts the wannabes. Lots of people doing it who've played 1080 on the PS2 and want to try to look cool. It's probably quite enjoyable if you're an expert and can stay up, but I've always come across people who spend all day falling over and being unable to get up, falling off drag lifts, and having to spend hours strapping themselves in and out. Plus, they tend to do this in the middle of slopes and get in your way all of the time.

Skiing is a lot of fun and a lot less of a chore :cool2:

The only reason I'd learn to board would be for off-pisting, where it looks far easier than skiing.

    attracts wanna be's?

Allie you're the biggest "wanna be" I've ever met, your description of boarders is a testament to the fact you've never left the nursery slopes.

Most people start boarding because it appealls to them not because they want to be a computer game character, you need to drop the "I'm so cool" act as we've all met you.

Why so bitter, Joseph? Just because I confess to a dislike of snowboarders, there's no need to be insulting.

I think that post summed you up allie, you accuse others of being wanna be's and attrempting to be something they're not.

Speaks volumes about your mindset and why you try so hard :D

How come you didn't direct similar shit insults toward Brid then, considering he was the first to state that snowboarding attracted wannabes?

I'm hardly trying to be something I'm not. How do you deduce that from my stereotypes and generalisations about snowboarders?
