I know, unless you're planning on moving Vuzz onto a Wednesday, thats when we'll all come out fighting

or maybe just the handbags would be out

i think you are competing to some extent. Same punters, same city. nobody likes to be second best.

I am just wondering what people like about both. and what people dislike.

I suppose this is a good idea as we could make improvements on any of the 'dislikes', I still dont see how we are in competition at all tho Jon.

Both class night, both giving up and coming DJ's the chance to play out and now booking well known names !

Liquids sound system is  even if the levels dont sound as good as when there resident is there at the weekends, as the nights have grown the better the DJ's are getting booked !

In Liquid when your standing around i often find everyone is waiting for the DJ to fuck up a mix if your not having a bit of banter with someone you know - just cos everyones staring at the DJ booth

I couldnt fault any of them at all really !

theres no real competition at all tbf!!! they're arguably the 2 top local nights in the city at the moment, defo for the style of music anyway, and both support each other when it comes to djs ect, with all the twisted ressies having played at vuzz recently. they both add something different to the local scene and both are currently going very well!!:D

i had to vote vuzz tho ;) :p

cant really compare the two, but both are doing really well!!!

u'd expect a decent crowd at mono as its a saturday and the towns heaving so it was always gonna work, but we run on a weekday which is that little bit harder, but were doing it right!!!

just for the system and venue twisted wins it by a mile, and Dj's comfirmed for next year are gonna make it that much better, so watch this space!!! ;)

    Couldn't disagree more.

For a start the bar isn't usually open, most people don't even know it's there.

Secondly it's tucked under FM's and easilly goes un-noticed. There is no real sign or anything.

Thirdly, it isn't in a busy area i.e., the bigg market or quayside where you're always gonna have a lot of people.

We have worked VERY hard to promote Mono - I don't think we've had that much passing trade - most of it will have came from the thousands of flyers, dozens of posters and boards we've put up, and stuff that's appeared in the local press. Just because your in the city centre on a Saturday night doesn't mean people are just going to flock to your door.

Re sound system me and Scott are personally investing a lot of money into the sound system in there. By the next one we'll have two big brand new subs, and a new amp. Plus the monitors in there are our own. Unfortunately we don't have a spare 5k in our back pocket to put into it tho!!

I used to go to school with Ross, he was in my class... he was funny then and is funnier now. We got up to some right pranks at school ... like cutting a photo of a naked women out of a mag and putting a photo of the Headteachers head on it then making several copys and posting them up all over school ...

Its good to see hes made it ... ;)

that is very true. I had no idea it was there, its not obvious at all.

As for voting i'm gonna sit firmly on the fence. Vuzz has been spot on a Friday night as a warm-up for Promise. Haven't checked out the Sat one yet but i will.
And Twisted...the 2 I've been too were top notch as well!

    Exactly!

It's hard enough promoting a new night in a known venue...but promoting an unknown venue is twice the work.

I was shitting myself before Saturday!

I had no idea if it was going to be busy or not, but as it happens we kicked ass! :p

    word!

couldn't agree more, we're working on this at vuzz...

alan belshaw and ben lost both aren't really trance dj's though so these months are different to the typical nights...but the bookings for the next few months are more your normal trance, so the progressive warm-ups will be in!

i think a lot of djs need to realise it isn't about playing what you want to when you are on before the main act!
