Ok i agree, the Promise 'sound' has obviously changed but I think a truly great club offers a wide selection of music and d.j's eg Cream.

As for Promise being one of the biggest in the North East, well that ain't hard seeing as how there is only Shindig and the Shack that are of a similar type (and they are both better nights by the way!!!)

I'm not getting into slagging off D.J's but PVD and Mauro Picotto are not superstars, try Danny Tenaglia or David Morales, although not my personal choice as D.J's but true superstars nonetheless.

By the way would you all welcome BT at Promise?

    OK mr intelligent...

Just because a dj isn't to your liking, it does not remove their international status... both Mauro and PVD are 2 of the most highly paid internationally famous dj's in the world? To say they aint superstar dj's because you don't like their music - well makes you look a complete idiot, not an intelligent progressive head.

As for your comment about shack and shindig being better... lol each to their own eh mate?

suppose its all about opinions but places like cream and sugarshack who have trance 1 night and house the next!!!wtf!!that aint being a 'good' club by offering variety!!thats being cheap shite and getting desperate to fill the club!!clubs should stick to thier guns and play what they believe in as much as they can!!

In what way is Morales a bigger star than PVD? Just because he has been around for years does not make him more of a superstar?

If you put PVD and Picotto on in one club, lets say Gatecrasher and Danny Tenaglia & David Morales on in Bed on the same night where do you think would be busier? Also if you asked 1000 18-25 year olds who they had heard of who do you think would come top? I think it would be PVD.

I think that defines a 'superstar dj'.

I would welcome BT, he is a dude.

FYI, I think Tenaglia is the most talented of them all closely followed by BT.

Ok i think we had better agree to diagree then!!! Mauro Picotto and PVD may be better 'pop stars' for the want of a better word but no way are they superstar D.J's.

Any chance of booking BT then?

I sometimes wonder with some of the comments made whether Promise sold out to fill the club every week instead of sticking to the varied line up's they used to employ about 1 1/2 years ago.

You had residents that some clubs in the country would die for (Tyrant) but that can't be said of the current reisdents (Matt Hardwick).

If i'm honest progressive music is going through a bit of a lull at the minute but the 'progressive d.j's aren't. They have adapted their style to funky or darker house musci which is just as good and probably works a dance floor better then prog.

I really wish every now and again you would get some of the old bookings back as i'm sure they would fill the club too.

Any business needs to make money, Promise is a business. I loved it when Tyrant used to play at Promise but unfortunately they are not famous enough to pull in a big enough crowd to make Promise financially feasible. If Promise makes no money it ceases to exist which I think would be a bad thing for Newcastle's club scene.

I totally agree with your point about Promise being a business and needing to make money but it does leave me scratching my head a little as to why we haven't seen Sasha back then??

After all it was the busiest night you have ever had so surely was good for business????

For that matter Oakenfold too or Digweed as you would be turning them away at the door it would be so busy

P.S When you say Tyrant aren't famous, we are talking about the residents of London superclub Fabric aren't we??

I would say that's pretty damn famous

Go ask a few random people on the street who they are, I don't think they are famous. Good but not famous.

Allot of the people who come to promise week in week out would not be up for it, it's one thing filling a club for one night but it's regular punters who support the business and make it viable.

Promise has to think about the long term not a quick earner.

I share your taste in music but I don't think you are aware of how dance clubs operate.

Ok point taken. It just would be nice if every now and again you got say Anthony Pappa or Parks and Wilson back.

They are sort of proggy/trancey D.J's and i'm sure you wouldn't lose any of your regular clientele if they played.

You didn't answer my question about BT either!!!
