I dont go to Promise as often as I did because I live miles away (not as far as Dexta tho :p ) PLUS clubbing in general isnt what it was for me really, same reason why I dont make the trip anywhere else ive just lost my enthusiasm.

About a year ago I would have busted a gut to get to Promise no matter who was on, I mainly went for the banter and to see folk. Now it would take someone I really wanted to see to get me back to Foundation on a friday

People may not like to hear it but the atmosphere has been on the decline over the last year (except for the odd big week). People can go on about musical policies but its atmosphere's that make clubs

Before Mark reads this I best point out we spend thousands on promotion, distribution and PR companies etc. The problem is its getting harder and harder for Newcastle to sustain a weekly trance night..... even though the bread and butter of the club is the trance! The crowd may be small but they are obviously there for something!

it is hard to keep a large crowd coming back every week in this city, cos it aint a clubbing city
this has been proved by the fact attendances seem to be similar to when the policy was prog.
everyone on the board wanted it harder, and then very few go.
im gutted that the likes of nick warren, dave seaman etc dont play anymore, thats when i used to go every week.
ive gotta get my prog from shindig now, who, while still booking the funkier dj's, are also getting the prog djs in( sander k in may for example)

there are still names i go to promise for, and there are several that id like to see:
    tiesto
    ferry corsten
    armin
    james holden
    misstress barbara

i also wanna see pvd come back, then a quiet tunout wouldnt even be an issue!

    Re: Re: Advertising

Thats exactly what I was getting at, the reason I pointed out the advertising was because some people had made referance to it.

Doggie- Dave Pearce plays trance, I think it will be a good move to book him, other respected trance nights have booked him, ie- Peach @ Camden Palace.

i am well aware of shindig, as its my second home.
the point i am trying to get at is that the city just doesnt seem to have enough established nights that are a success. im well aware of bajas, the boat etc, which is why newc has a reputation for being a party city, not a serious clubbing city. for a city this size to only have 2 big club nights is, in my opinion, very poor.
since i started uni in sept 2000, so many nights have come and gone, reverb, traveller, to die for, pull, fractured, the list goes on.

i dont care about people whose sole enjoyment on a night out is liquid and blu bambu, fuck them, thats not who i meant.
no new club night seems to be given enough time to get established does it?
shindig is one of the biggest nights in the counrty, but there aint much else in the city is there?
look at leeds, on a sat night is has basics, heritage, hard times, techinque, all on the same night and all very successful.
whats the alternative to shindig? nice, with brandon block or the residents. it amuch of a choice is it?

As said b4, Newcastle is more of a beer/get-lashed city than a serious clubbin city - it's not the first place people think of when they think "we're the best place for clubbin"... now if you said "we're the best place to get hammered" Look at the style of music shindig plays too, its much more appealing to the everyday clubber, it's not so "in your face" banging as most nights at Promise are. You can go to shindig and stay even if you don't like the music, cause its not so jumpin, the 'everyday clubber' can put up with it. Promise is much more for the 'serious clubber' which newcastle seems to have a lack of... in recent times anyway.

who says im not open minded? all i was doing was making a simple point about the lack of variety of decent club nights in this city, compared to other similar sized cities.
and if there are so many people to go 'serious' clubbing every week, why is promise suffering at the moment?

im pretty open minded about going out, the simple fact is some weekends id like more choice than just foundation, thats all, without having to resort to a night out in the bigg market.
and i have, nor most likely ever will, considered putting a night of my own on, why would i anyway whem you consider how many have come and gone in the last 2 or so years?
and where are the people who could fill your club 6 times over every week? ok, they go to the one-offs, but where are they every week?

yeah bulletproof and stone love have lasted a while, but there not what im talking about.
