A succesful night doesnt have to follow the stereo corp formula.

I've been to amazing nights in shity grimey venues, to write foundation off because a new club opens is a huge leap... Foundation just needs to readjust its direction and instead of competing concerntrate on either digitals weaker nights or completely new nights.

foundation still is a good club, its just really tired now thats all

digital has a wealth of bars around it for example, what is left near foundation? stereo is dying on its arse as well

but is there any point in spending a fortune on refurbishing the club if it isnt to last too much longer

how long are the residents of the new flats opposite the club gonna put up with hundreds of wrecked clubbers outside their front doors every weekend?

exactly... it's a matter of time b4 the residents association kick up a stink about the noise/mess etc...

It needs air conditioning!!! I hate how smoky it is in foundation its disgraceful. Other than that a new soundsystem certainly wouldn't go a miss! But id settle for the air con!

foundation needs a night with a bit of balls imo, people i think are just sick of going there for the same old.
at the moment digital is the new place to be, when its been open a bit things will start to even out a bit again. :)

Pendulmen played at Turbulence last month
Wax:On have had Shy FX on and have Roni Size and London Elek. on
Plus you have Curves @ The Other Rooms once a month which is DnB

does the town really need another DnB night?

The only 2 other channels imo are a proper HipHop night (Sweetleaf Sessions are already doing one at Other Rooms but its not a massive venue) and a Trance night (no other competition for proper trance dj's)

I dont think a proper hiphop night will work, especially as it will hav to be underground stuff to be different.
nights like this happen all over but only pull small crowds in and wont really expand cos the majority of ppl wont listen to it unless usher, snoop or missy elliot has their mark pissed all over it.

It pains me to say it but I have to agree with Joe , and it reflects what I said on another thread a while back, they need to find a niche of their own and stop doing the same old formula and going up against a shiny new club.

Theres plenty of nights round the country that are succesful in not so nice venues, (remember the riverside!!) its about finding a niche that will work.
Some fresh ideas/blood in the staff would maybe help?

Maybe even somekind of outdoor festival with more than just trance. even though they are doing the arena its in conjuction with gods' if they could get their own thing like that goin and hav some really good/different acts and get some new poeple for the crowd.

I really love Foundation the way it is. the fact that i travel all the way to Newcastle just to go says a lot. Foundation reminds me of how clubs in Sunderland used to be before the rise of cheesy pop and new shiney light clubs.
I think a proper chill out room would be cool but other than that i say stay the way it is.
O.....the rockports serriously need to go!!!

Theres room in the town for a real indie night.

Theres room in the town for another r and b night - if lovedough are moving to digital on tuesdays thats great - but a similar styled night on a friday or saturday would pull a huge crowd.

Smile is a huge success (however dunno how profitable it is)

Promise will continue to be suvccesful if it isn't twice a week

Theres still a few months worth of hed kandi style music... however wax on are rapidly taking the toni and guy crowd

Theres room for a real hip hop night, you put the likes of kano, dizzie, roots manuva, etc. on and you'll pull a big crowd... hip hop doesnt have to be american.

Theres loads foundation can do and no reason for it to close.

Totally agree about the RnB night on a weekend.. they have a kinda hip hop style thing on a friday at attic and its pretty much rammed upstairs every weekend..

Foundation is a class club, it might not have all the latest gear etc but the atmosphere can be awesome at times.

Apparently the dudes behind Tokyo Industries are gonna start something huge.. mark doyle is involved..
If they could get something sorted with them then it'd be a good move..
