    Moved everything to sky, works out cheaper also.
    sky+ hd, up 16mb broadband, and landline.

    Am usin my own router box like and for some reason when a use ares/limewire etc or some forums it seems to go very slow n sometimes disconnect, but when a stick the laptop on via the ethernet it's spot on. Be sumthin daft a need to sort but a just cant be arsed fartin on with it.

    Gonna shop around b4 a get virgin installed n see whats best, mite try that o2 even or BT.

    set up a static IP mate, that might sort out your problem.

    i think virgin and sky are the only ones that give static ip's - i know we definately dont

    nah nah, setting up static IP's from router to PC, not ISP to customer, it makes torrents faster etc, and generally sorts out some connectivity things out

    isp's can set you to have one tho, i know we can but were not allowed.

    apparently its more beneficial for online gamers - things like steam and that are set to one ip arent they, a dynamic ip would make it a fuck on to log into it

    was paying over £80 a month with virgin.
    Now down to £60 (excluding £50 for the hd box)
    Loads more channels tho, and picture quality is way better.

    Interweb to be installed in next few days. Says unlimited up to 16mb.
    (but heard sky net can be a twat sometimes) fingers crossed its not

    I'm with Virgin for everything, been great so far, but am about to switch to wireless....

    my modem's MAC determines what IP i get and it's always the same. Direct Connect needs port forwarding set up and the same IP - mine always has the same IP but then the cable connect is 'always on' rather than having to connect like ADSL

    so - with ADSL u get different IPs? i didn't think that was the case...

    we switched to talk talk from tiscali, tiscali was quick but downloads and general speed is much faster with talk talk :up:
