I've just read his own comment on his facebook, theres no actual reason why the Venue tried to cancel him & no explanation? just that his manager took the call & decided to not let Sander play, again a little odd but thats clubland I suppose, the industry is rife with little monsters.

    Wow!

Apparently not such a happy Monday for some eh.

I just wanted login and post something on here about a show in Cardiff I did turn up to on Saturday but didn't play.

Firstly I would never want to piss off my fans – as I’ve said before it is only because of you I am here.

Secondly - nobody apart from my manager, the venue and myself know why I didn't play - so assuming it was simply because I didn't think the crowd was big enough is completely wrong, and that really pisses me off. I am really sorry I didn’t play in Cardiff this weekend, my Welsh fans are as important to me as any other fans.

So for the record…this is what happened:

We finished up in Goodgreef in Preston and began the drive to Cardiff. Whilst on route my manager got 2 phone calls from the venue trying to cancel me. We thought we’d check it out ourselves as we were almost there. When we got to Cardiff the guys who were running the event told us we wouldn’t be getting paid for it. So think about it yourselves - would you go to work for free, or for half the price?

At the end of the day I have a manager and he made the call, which I totally agree with. I hope you can all understand this.
    Cheers

sounds like the venue doing bookings under the GG banner inconjunction with GG but a poor turn out (again by the sounds of it) so the venue got cold feet amd tried to save a bit of cash (on what was a MASSIVE line up frankly) and bin him off half way thru the night?

if i were barry, i wouldn't be going back there and fucking up their reputation

so gg are franchising their brand out then... pretty dodgy way of operating IMO, and not going to do their brand reputation much good when stuff like this happens.

    ah well...

maybe he got the bookings then left it to trust the venue to pay the fees on the night? this is where it sounds like it's gone wrong. a poor turnout and them not having enough to pay all the DJs on the line up?

    we can only speculate

The night was ran by 2 promoters/nights: Goodgreef & Evolution(cardiff). Godgreef dont loan the name out etc ...

What I think has happend is that Evolution has booked sander & fronted the money for part of the line-up to showcase their own bookings, then relised the venue didn't do as well as they hoped numbers wise so tried to pull the plug on Sander.

GG wouldn't do it to Sander I can guarantee it, they have a good relationship, he's been booked for nearly all the GG venues they have events at, it wouldn't make sense. even if it was GG that booked him & the night had done poorly, he woud have been paid from them 100%

Personally i have always thought Goodgreef are shambles, just look at the last tall trees, they blatenly cramed everyone in they could without regard to health & safety. Also remember the tickets they sold and had to refund back for the 7th brithday. With exception of Junior:G there lineups all look the same, same old DJs who personally i am sick and tired of. Basically Goodgreef havn't any imagination when it comes to lineups, just look at the past couple of lineups at Digital Society in Leeds, wipes the floor with Goodgreef.

That wasn't Goodgreef it was tickemaster or whoever it was that sold them. It didn't just happen for Goodgeef they oversold a few other WHP events.

Same thing happened to a lad i know when he bought tickets for Tiesto in London he had his money refunded when he thought he had a ticket as they fucked up.

You got to love this dutch dick.

    ERRRRRRRRR but he did.

His sheepshaging fans are not as important as any other fans if they were he would of played it is all about the coin to this dutch bellend.

I am not going to Evolve over this shocking behavior. At least when Sander is playing there will be 2 extra bods on the door that night as Sander & his boss counting the coin as it comes in.

i'm torn.... coz i know i'd play for free to 3 geezers and a dog.... but if it was my main job.. don't think i'd be too happy about working for free... if what he's said is true. then again if he was that bothered about his ''fans'' he should have maybe done a quick half hour.....

either Goodgreef were the promoters of the event in which case they've stiffed sander themselves, or goodgreef have essentially franchised their name out to the welsh promoters as I said above.

if you went to work, and your boss said 'hey, i know you love your job, but im not going to pay you this time' would you still play?

the answer to most of you is probably 'aye, fuck it, im here now, let me on them decks'

however, this could be alright the first time, but then, what if at every gig you've travelled to, they do this?

i think by not playing, he's saying he cant and wont be pushed around when work is involved - a decision that was probably put forward from his manager from the start

it only takes one place to call 'not paying' and still getting a show, then how many other venues decide to take the same leaf out of the book?

i dont blame him for showing up at the venue to check it wasnt a wind up about the salary, and then walking out to prove a point because they fucked it up with the marketing (not filling the venue)

    imo

    Read the flyer Gav.

    GOODGREEF IN ASSOCIATION WITH.........

You see nights doing it all the time, either in association with or -vs- nights, they both book there own DJ's & have their own responsibility to pay them, all I can go off is what I got told, I asked Barry what the score was & it was the Venue not GG.

Hence me stating it was either the Venue/other promoter. Sander to goodgreef is like the prodicle son, they love him. Eddies had him on his show countless times in the past & pushed him a ridiculous amount in rave reviews & with Radio 1. Goodgreef are hardly that straped for cash that if an event does poorly they fuck off 1 of there most loved bookings, small fish like me fair play, they love Sander it wouldn't happen.

If he was upfront & said they offered me half my fee & then asked me to play for nowt but I was headline act, so I said FUCK YOU. FAIRPLAY TO HIM. But all that shite about fans doesn't wash at all it was all about the coin.

    spot on

it's very different if you DJ for a laugh, but if you do it as your only job (or part of your only job), can you afford to do it for nowt?
