I dunno what you have, but you need a good mouse for sure.. I realised this when I got this new pc with a standard dell optical. 'Back in the day' when I first started playing with a £40 logitech I ended up being absolutely class at it and now I can't hit shit

My laptop has a rubbish graphics card so older oens would be better

you want Battlefield 1942 - BUT there's even a free version - it's only a 1 level demo but it's SOOO addictive, i play it constantly at work!!

then get the Battlefield 1942 Multiplayer Demo patch 1.1 at the same place. it's old so will definately run at some spec. it's class.


Then, get online and find the ENG (v1.1) server - (there's not many servers left for the free demo from 6 years ago!!!! lol )

if it's a dual core machine you're running on, you may have to disable 1 of the processors like i did to get it to run normally.

set it running then CTRL-ALT-DEL, find it in the 'processes' tab, right click and select 'Set Affinity' - disable the 2nd proc.

Oh, and before i forget,

Start UT, open the console (tab key) and type preferences.

Rendering > Choose D3D or OpengL depending on what you're using > Set Coronas to false

This gets rid of the glare from lights in the game that sometimes hides people from view.

Also, OpenGL is often better than D3D but it depends on your card. The 8800 GT doesn't like OpenGL at all.

Edit: In other words, either download/use mIRC and connect to the server irc.quakenet.org and goto the channel #nucastle or just start unreal tournament and in the server browser, goto the chat tab and enter that info there.
