Maccarone has been great recently... started off well and then just completely lost confidence. Think the fact he missed starting the cup final kicked him up the arse a bit, and he is a confidence player... puts his head down too easily... I just hope he doesn't become a player who can only turn it on at home

Think o'neill would be great for spurs... ranieri sounds good after what he has done at chelsea, but spurs don't have the same financial clout... not sure about whether trappatoni would be what the fans would want, think spurs are crying out for some inspirational football... he is not that kind of boss

my 1st choice is O'Neill, would love to see him at Spurs. I think we've got about 20M to spend in the summer. Ranieri seems to be pretty smart too. The trap I don't know that well but he's won more league titles than anyone else so not to be sniffed at. If we pull in Raddy Antic or Peter Taylor then I think a demo outside the ground will be in order

By winning one trophy they've achieved what Newcastle haven't since 1969. I take a point from Breakdown earlier in the thread which accused other supporters of living 'in the past' so on paper I guess Boro would look more successful....

and if you look at the league table you will see Newcastle are above Boro as they are most seasons.

I was talking about trophy wise (jnclude promotions if you like). I knew you'd mention the league and that was part of the statement I made. Without Shearer you would be in the same place I thik you'll agree.

We haven't been able to get promotion for about 10 years now due to not getting relegated during this period.But we have Shearer for 1 more year at least, so your point is not relevent for now. If you think Boro are better team than Newcastle fair play to you mate.

Newcastle just need a bigger squad mate then events such as the UEFA exit could be avoided. It's an odd situation.. as a fan do you think it's not having the money or is the club losing it's appeal??? If you don't qualify for the UEFA cup that last year with Shearer will be redundant although a league cup/fa cup win would be possible??

It's nto that I think Middlesbrough have a better team it's just that, as I've said, in terms of success you could say they have achieved more in light of the fact that they have bounced up and down and managed to win something. Like you say, you've been in the premiership for a while that'd you'd expect to have won something especially with the investment in the stadium and the facilities (nice loos for example). Although investment is no guarantee for success.
