Blaming immigration is like when Hitler blamed the Jews for the economic problems in germany

the bankers/lenders and the government that allowed them to run so wild is the problem, a few years back buy to rent chancers in london were buying upto 10 properties and getting 110% mortgages on the lot, situations like that were never wise long term economic planning, the whole bonus culture in banking was never focussed on mid-long term economic stability, a deal that may have a had a short term bonus may have been long term finacial suicide but the bankeers didn't give a fuck they got their bonus that year so who cares what happens 3-5 years down the line

the property market in this country was spiralling out of control for years but the estate agents and mortgage lenders just let it go so they could get their mits on as much money as possible in the short term

ask yourself a few questions before you start finger waving,

do you own anything on credit you can't really afford?
do you have a mortgage that is more than 5 times your annual income?

if so the companies that provided you with these credit services are the first ones to look at in the current finacial crisis

the reason the problem is global is because it's down to the one human trait that unites us all, greed

Totally agree .... apart from the bit about it being due to 'London'.

Granted the system is totally shite and the bankers have made incredible amounts of money .... but it was all money generated from the government(s) PRINTING it to hand out to banks and circulate it around the system........

...... but all that money had to start with us on the street with our 0% credit cards, cheap loans and cheaper mortgages - They handed it to us, we took it up eagerly, spent it .... and they invented fancy financial products to multiply their wealth off of it.

We all had a part to play, by and large.

    Totally right.

Were a nation of lazy bastards, you get a group of Polish contractors on a site your almost guaranteed not one of them will take a day off until the job is done, never moan, fiddle time or fuck you around, there an employers dream.

@ TeknoCod - When was the last time you got up the crack of dawn to go to work a 5/6 day shift, 52 weeks a year, pay taxes & NI contributions?

I'd rather pay half price to have a load of poles do barely any work while getting drunk ... than pay a load of lazy builders full price to turn up and do fuck all while reading the sun and doing the 'occasional' bit of work when they can be arsed

Britain may cut immigration due to economy

LONDON (Reuters) - Britain plans to reduce immigration in the face of a weakening economy and rising unemployment, the Times newspaper quoted Immigration Minister Phil Woolas as saying Saturday.

"If people are being made unemployed, the question of immigration becomes extremely thorny ... It's been too easy to get into this country in the past and it's going to get harder," Woolas told the paper in an interview.

"This government isn't going to allow the population to go up to 70 million," Woolas said. "There has to be a balance between the number of people coming in and the number of people leaving."

At a time of economic difficulties, employers should put British people first or they will risk fuelling racism, Woolas said.

Immigration has been high under the Labour government and the Times said net immigration is estimated to be more than 200,000 a year until 2012.

Woolas also said he opposed an amnesty for people who came to Britain illegally because it would encourage more illegal immigrants.

The government recently adopted a system under which would-be migrants are awarded points depending on their value to the economy, designed to encourage skilled immigrants and reduce the number of unskilled economic migrants.

The country's population is around 61 million.

Surely a business that is struggling for money is more likely to employ a worker who gives them the best value for their money?
