The way the pitch is playing it will be a test for both sets of batsmen, lets hope we can do a bit better than the aussies did

If jones fucks up, i reckon prior could get an opportunity (not for this series, maybe in nthe near future). Jones is a dasher, he'll make quick runs but doesn't occupy he crease for long periods, the shot he got ot was poor, was caught in two minds

Prior and Reid are both better Batsmen imo than Jones but Jones is the better batsman at one dayers and the selecters dont like to disrupt the team too much once they have a setled team.

    Prior G/7 I/11 N.O/0 R/368 B/103 Av/33.45 100/1 50/2 CT/17 ST/0

    Read G/9 I/12 N.O/4 R/372 B/103* Av/46.50 100/1 50/3 CT/43 ST/1

    Jones G/3 I/6 N.O/1 R/101 B/36* AV/20.20 100/0 50/0 CT/13 ST/1

Proven here Read's stats are much better than Priors and Jones's for before the Ashes series. Batting and gloveswork.
If England want to do well they want to be picking players on form and not reputation.

Dont wanna jinx it, but Strauss and Trescothick are playing very well so far.

Have batted sensibly, corrected their mistakes from the first innings, and seen off Brett Lee for now. Just a few more McGrath overs to get through in this spell, and its a good start.

And now were 117/4  absolutly useless.

Now people tell me we made the right decsion in dropping Thorpe?

Fair enough Piterson got a half century in his first innings but hes had a terrable game dropping 3 catches, hes gonna need a good score here to redeem himself.

Bells had two pathetic innings and hasnt proved himself.

G.Jones had a knock of about 30 which was fairly good compred to the rest of the side but he's still not that good with the bat and he's put down 2 catches aswell.

Catches win matches and at the moment we couldnt catch aids of a hooker.

I still think Thorpe would have held our middle order together and still belive collingwood would do well at test level and he deffinatly wouldnt be dropping catches!

    Warne destroyed us. :(

Both Lee's wickets were handed to him on a plate by poor shots. But the instant Warne came on he had us in all sorts of trouble, he could have had a couple more.

Prior is the keeper for the future, i reckon he's a better one day player than jones, was one of the only successes of the winter tour with England A. His career ave. is alot better than reads 38 ish vs. 29. At the start of the season his ave. was just over forty but as the stats show he's having a poor season. Not seen much of his glove work though, but he has youth on his side.
