Very true, I think Dre is class tho, I don't care whether he is English, American, Pakistani or what.
Oasis would get my vote out of the English people on there.

as much as i love Oasis, what they meant to me at the time i was at uni, the tracks mean so much to me and certains times in my life - they only did 2 decent albums, then 2nd 2 were the same not very good formulaic rubbish. There were only around a few years, yeah there is still a band called oasis going, but they're just doing it for the money and playing the same stuff that got them famous. i find it hard to put them above other people in the list.

and the chillis too? good and quirky but not a UK hall of famer for the 90's

Re: UK music hall of fame

so how does an american gettin released in britain do anything for BRITISH music? would an english band that did well in the states be classed as doin good for american music? NO! they'd say that they'd done good things for british music.

would u say that the matrix had done wonders for british film making? :dunce:

Ok, lets try and sort this out. This poll is for a band or artist to go into the UK music hall of fame! It doesn't matter where they are from, it matters what they did for music and the effect they had on our culture and society in the UK!

Are you peeps that are against the Yanks saying that no one in the UK was influenced or grew up idolising someone like Kurt Cobain? Literally tens of thousands of people used to walk the streets wearing Nirvana t-shirts as a fashion accessory! Their album Nevermind is incredible at worst! They are legendary in every country! Not just the USA!

By the way, I haven't voted for Nirvana. For me it was a toss up between Blur and Oasis. They are both responsible for the Britpop era and actually helped each other more than they did damage to each other. In the end I voted for Blur because they constantly changed their sound creating some immense anthems like Song 2. I also believe many other bands were influenced more by Blur and not Oasis.

if i had to vote, it'd be between oasis, blur and the prodigy for their impact in the 1990s - they personify an era in many peoples' lives.

    Somewhere here nor there!

Youve got a fucking answer for everything...

I dont beleive thier attitudes helped them get to where they are today - a lot of people I know dislike Oasis for that exact reason.

I was mearly pointing out that they were a bunch of cock's who thought that they were god's gift to the music industrie, abit like you to this board - Ironic if you ask me!

    new order? pistols? clash? smiths?

all these have had more of an impact on british music than any of those listed...

how many bands state thom yorke as a major influence compared to those who would list joe strummer or johnny marr?

    what a pile of bollocks.

The ones listed are only from the 90's Tomarse. 80's, 70's, 60's and 50's are still to come, I reckon most of the ones you named should crop up!
