Quality of paint job is quite some way down the list of 'what makes a club good' imo.

the vile neo-gothic early 90's decor? I think gotham town could have been a closer description in retrospect..

I don't mind dingy, the masque, foundation, arches, sankeys are all pretty rank, turnmills is seedy and pretty grotty.. and the crowd is slimey as fuck..

PVD and Armin, oh two bastions of quality music there, ever occured to you that they would only play at large venues in London and bar the AMG venues there isn't anywhere in else they would get a slot on a Saturday that they would be content with? Turnmills is a trance / hed kandi club with a mainstream trance DJ as it's proprieter..

there's far better music venues around and you'll probably find them if you pull your head out your arse and stop blinkering your outlook because you think something is pretentious..

Ive yet to go to any 'club' where i havent come out feeling dirty or reeking of smoke or whatever - trance/techno clubs are always gonna be less than squeaky clean affairs on the decor front - it comes with the territory.

The crowd are reflective of the dj's on that night ive found - Ive been to turnmills loads of times and theres a definate difference between the people turning up to Jules/Hardwick/Picotto than there is turning up to Benassi/Seaman/Fanciulli ... but once again, whats the issue with that? Ive yet to have seen a single spot of bother or felt intimidated there, which is something i cant say for other places.

With any musical genre, your going to get the equivalent of 'trance mongs' or whatever people choose as the worse stereotype to grief that crowd. Likewise the dream that there are some 'cool' places where only those worthy of going, do - is just that, a dream. Anyways, its in the nature of clubs/bars or whatever to attract a crowd of plebs anyways, who pay over the odds for drinks, to stand around and compare hairstyles while eyeing up the talent. Whether they are waving a glowstick and chasing their top lip, or adjusting their collars and quiffs - its all the same.

From a personal point of view, I did not really like Turnmills as a club.

Agree about the grim decor etc.

Cant wait for this now, another road trip and seeing some of the best UK Trance DJ's braying Turnmills all over.

So fuck if its a hovel, so fuck if its a shit hole or apparently anyways its all about the banter and what ya make of the night.

    Too right :D

Well looking forward to this too, recent trance nights ive been to havent been with DJ's that im that into (Mark norman for example), it has been a while a while since went somewhere to see someone i was well looking forward to.

Friday however.... all 3 are well up my street, O'Bir playing a set packed with quality trance and then Sheridan and Askew (who hopefully will be closing) braying the club until sunrise with rock hard trance & techno. :D
