You should definitely install SP2, using that, firefox, avg and a decent firewall should keep you (almost) clean as a whistle :)

No worries - happy to help :D

Back up your important files, and if you feel you really would miss something else, back it up too. Highly unlikely owt will go wrong, but it's always best to backup your files on a regular basis anyway.

@ Swana - get this extension for firefox: https://addons.update.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=625

And use the tricks here: http://www.promisealways.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=40214&highlight=config

and browsing shall never be the same again... :D

Took your advice and got all ov these installed (using sygate for firewall) and every thing is looking good except it is a bit jumpy and when using msn 7 if any winks are sent the comp goes to 100% CPU usage and freezes. Are there any important plugins to solve this?

Update msn, early versions of 7 have a flaw with the animated winks that allows remote code execution (ie nasty shit).

Or be even safer and use GAIM or Trillian instead

@ loopyloosy - that's not a lot of info there, so no idea - you updated windows recently?
