not always the case imo hannah if folk didn't take it serious and folk always took it in light humour, as a joke and whatever else do u honestly think dance music would be where it is today? Personally nah i dont think so.
I'm not gonna be as harsh as some of the people in this thread hannah, but being a DJ myself I find it's just not good enough to play what I get sent or recieve on promo. I can remember when juski used to be subscribed to whitedisc, true they did send him some good stuff, but it was one or two tracks on one cd. And most of it was gash. The best way to decide on what to play is to have a look at the latest crasher releases (if there are any trance ones left ). Have a browse on HMV and HTFR. Listen to the clips of tracks they have on their site. Visit your local record shop and listen to the trance stuff. If you don't have the depth of music, there's no shame in admitting it and getting someone else to play. As far as music styles go, I wouldn't consider applying for a night that I don't already have a decent number of records for. It's the equivalent of M-X & Jimmy booking me for a night at TL when all I play is US House (which is pretty much all I play ) If you're gonna have any future in the industry as a DJ you need to get out and listen to more than just what the industry and artists send you. Even just listening to stuff on HTFR and buying it if you like the sound (be warned, this becomes an expensive habit ). Don't download (illegally). Downloading does nothing and hurts the music scene more than promoting it. If I downloaded your tracks and openly admitted it I'd expect you to come up here and whip me with shitty tights. I don't do it out of respect for people who can produce good tracks and deserve the money. If you want their track, pay them for their work.
I don't know if I could survive on my promos alone. I've had about 20+ from defected, 4 from positiva one or two from subliminal and thats about it. Even if I did get enough to fill a crate every week I'd still look for stuff. As for downloading - well, producers should themselves understand the risks it poses. It certainly doesn't set a good example if they do it (and they do it for commercial gain). Thats far worse than a bedroom DJ downloading them and playing them to him/herself.
owen aint an alias and aye im thinking what the fuk is gan on here like i mean your trademark is this bosh shit and they enlist you to play at crasher hmmmmmm i hope r + d wipe the place dry so then it makes no difference if your on or not for the crasher kids in there ........
DJs not knowing anything about the style of a night and on top of that openly admitting to downloading mp3s....now seriously if she was a guy this thread would have gotten even messier!
Fuck me no wonder trance is dying. How can you book some one for a trance classics night who does not even know what trance classics are. As for serious knobbers ruining the scene, sorry hannan its you who's ruining the scene by playing music you have no real passion for just to make some easy money. For a dj as well hannan you should know most good ones spend time tracking down tunes so that they have an individual sound fuck playing what your sent play what you feel.
who the f**k is hannah wild anyway? never heard of her until i read her totally ridiculous threads! some1 plz ban her!! hutch
Punters are getting ripped right off paying for "DJ's" (in the loosest term) like this. I can't believe she had the stupidity to post this yet claim how much she is doing for the scene in the 'soul hempty' thread. Classics nights are all about £££'s, which is fair enough but don't claim your progressing things.
I've held off saying owt in this thread for days... but.. it's gotta be said - there's no excuse for this whatsoever. Why did u even argee to it? you don't like the music, you don't support it, you don't even BUY it and know nothing about it. You're a disgrace. your attitude is whats wrong in club land at the moment. nothing like this can be defended get back to getting your kit off for DJ jobs eh.
