For someone who claims to be 'cutting edge' with his nights, you book the same djs an awful lot.

You refuse to give credit to anyone who's doing anything other than the charver-infested tea parties that you refuse to let anyone forget about.

Fuuuuckin' hell Melt! Still hanging on to the fact we used red & black in a flyer? Your a cunt but I know now your a sweetheart deep down underneath all that hardhouse business.

Low blow about the Vermont but fair one about promotion...

And Pike, the dance floors are vibrant, there's decent booking's consistently and sweaty gurners a plenty. I'm confused how you'd have a clue since you've been out of action for at least a year X

are the council becoming more lenient when it comes to 'warehouse' parties these days ? I couldnt picture the Fire Station or the TTTV Studios having nights on in 2002.

I'd say that the recession has made pretty much everyone re-think their operating methods and given the whole scene a really healthy boost.

I still think there is an endemic problem with their being too many DJs / Promoters and not enough people who just want to go clubbing, but I'm inclined to blame that on the fact that DJs don't need to be record collectors anymore and given the 2 mins it takes to be adept on a CDJ and the availability of music online, there has been a certain loss of craft which has led to everyone wanting to be on the stage rather than in front of it.

Also, a lot of these would be promoters are willing to splash out phenomenal amounts of cash on bookings without a thought of making it back.
While such an altruistic standpont could be viewed as admirable in some cases, the reality of it is that you just get a deluge of quiet nights diluting the better events and driving the DJs prices even higher than their already ridiculous amounts.

That phenomena is global though, not just a Newcastle thing.

    Also, as an aside.

Before I got kicked out of A-level history they took the time to explain that while everyone views Left Wing and Right Wing Politics as being opposite ends of a long idealogical line, the truth is that they actually exist on a big loop with extremism forming the join were the loop meets.
Hence the actual lack of differences between say Hitler & Stalin despite their porpotions to the contrary.

Thats pretty much how I view Melt & Dave Stone.

i AM JUST MESSINg melt style

but tyne tees studio 1 is a warehouse in every sense of the word

disused, abandoned, warehouse building , square in shape, falling to bits

in my world that is a warehouse party

fire station - underground warehouse bunker on level 1.

i challenge anyone who was at the fire station or tyne tees warehouse to tell me that these were anything other than bonafide warehouses

i "could" say that the habit wharehouse was indeed a pottery shed or a warehouse

and plenty of stuff in star and shadow is in my opinion a smaller scale warehouse set up as is any event thats been in newcastle arts centre . etc etc etc...the list goes on

mark eg - 2nd time only playing for us in 8 years

LAB 4 - 1st time playing for us in 8 years

rodi style - resident - self explanatory

audy - debut for canadian dj

proteus - 2nd time playing for us in 8 years

I think you should look at some of the more minimal house nights that seem to have the same 3or 4 djs on rotation over an 18month period before pointing the finger

and I never EVER claimed to be cutting edge....we just put on a good rave

ALL i see with the cooler than cool nights is them creating a platform for their best mates to dj at on rotation alongside the latest cooler than cool dj famous bastard who is apparently going to be the next big thing
