I don't get it with Phillips at all. When he was in his pomp I am sure he was relegated from the Premiership twice with Sunderland, I may be wrong with that as yous get relegated & promoted that often it is hard to keep track, so how an earth you expect him to save u's in the Prem now he is in the twilight of his career is beyond me.

He is proven to of scored goals at that level and i think we would not have to pay alot of cash to get him, we may even get him on a season long loan so if it does not work out we have not really lost out much, but if it does work out and he chips in with a few goals that keep us up then result, grrrrrr i hate talking like were in the premiership its a fooking curse

But his goals & style of play have failed to save you in the past, give me some new information how you think he would do it this time. Managers often say/think there clubs can achieved what Charlton have, well Charlton have never signed prolific goalscorers they have a group of fast forwards & wide players & intelligent central midfielder that are backed up by experienced back unit.

And if your after people with a proven track record what about Sir Les?Andrew Cole? Dwight Yorke?Dion Dublin?

His goals and style of play nearly got us into Europe aswell though on the flip side, the reality is we are going to have very and i mean very little funds IF we do go up, Phillips has scored at this level and would be cheap, probably within our buget, the other players that have been mentioned, Morrisson,Vassell,Euell etc etc have never scored reguarly at premiership level so would be quiet a big risk in my opinion and all of them alot more expensive than Phillips. McCarthy's record in the transfer market is fucking superb so i have faith in his judgement, he knows what is needed to stay up and if some of the players he has already brought in continue to develop at the rate they are they will all become decent premiership players too.

Any of the Sunderland fans at the game last Saturday can answer me these questions.

    1. how the ferk could Andy Welsh not get a game for Stockport ??
    2. Could the £15,000 we paid for him be the best piece of business u have seen for a long time ??? he looks some prospect

If i was amackem i would not want Phillipos i woul dbe looking forward not towards a player that is too old and not hit top form for many a season, yes he was great for you but dont let that cloud your judgement...

Only once he got relagated mate, but like i said before i agree with you. He is not the right man to take the club forward! I think Stephen Elliott will do well in the premier, i still say Morrison would be a good buy! I know he's at wolves at the mo and he had a nightmare at the Toon but Carl Cort is in cracking form (shame wolves only know how to draw) !

I'd have Vassel over Phillips any day but don't think we could afford him :(

If Vassell has scored more goals in his entire premiership career than Phillips scored in one season for us in the premiership i will eat Jaffa Cakes off a dwarf

And if Vassel has ever been part of a relegation team once, never mind twice, I will munch on Sonia Jackson tits.

Your whole concept of what you need to stay up is wrong, look at Charlton forwards most of them 7 to 10 goals a season men at max but they are all quick as hell & can pin the opposition defence back & are always good for a breakaway.

Look how well Palace are doing & they have the Premierships 2nd top goalscorer

teams who come up from the first need to balance experiance with a young pacey striker....

players like Les Ferdinand, Teddy Seringham are players who up untill last season could still score in the premiership they were both top international players in there day. Kevin Phillips scored a lot for you guys but has failed to score many for any other team or country.

players you should be looking for are people like Hartson somone who is going to bag you 15 plus a season then you can have somone like Huckerby who has pace and is going to run at defenders.

Hartson is not a bad shout but i would keep Stephen Elliott over buying Darren Huckerby any day of the week, Huckerby has failed miserably at Norwich this year
