surely this is true though. what else = success when you are putting on a night that charges money on the door.

Which Local DJs would they be!

And wasnt VUZZ about upcoming Local DJs anyways?

here man I think you 2 should realise when someone is agreeing with you and on your side.

its great that someone (eg paul etc) is bringing dj's -

<thanks to whichever mod edited this in an unfunny way!!!>

    - to toon who aint played here before , but there are loads of references in here to "oh there were not enough people in etc" and "we put the names on and you lot dont come" (referring to the board).

On the one hand you are dissing me out for inferring I listen to the boards opinions (which I dont) and then on the other (earlier on) there are loads of comments questioning peoples loyalty because the board members didnt come down and show their support for goldenscan.

Surely you cant have it both ways: saying oh the boards opinions are drivel and then expecting them to show their support to you.

I like VUZZ i like PAUL and I liked VUZZ at the cottage, I was there for the last 1 at the cottage.

if you say vuzz was about local djs fair enough, but magics last comment is implying that you always book people who aint played before. NOW vuzz do back then they didnt!

part of the combination that has made vuzz established locally must be the fact that is was / it used to be a prewarm up for promise. seeing as its now a saturday it may take a little while to move the crowd over to the other night, thats all I am saying

    :chill: :)

Most of them got their first ever gigs at Vuzz! Nobody is denying our past I am proud of all the DJ's who have played Vuzz! Some DJ's who are doing very well for themselves right now started out playing for us at Egypt Cottage!

But we have moved on from that and are doing something different now.

I find it quite funny that there are half-wits on here (and I could take an educated guess as to who they are!) that would say we're just copying people when we're bringing all these new DJ's to the area, and in some cases, to this country for the first time.

gnasher man , its simple as far as i can see it,

you have a venue that was a bar and free to get in , in an area of town that has previously been known as a charvs bar, now you are putting on djs that altho mint are unknown to most boys/girls in the street. and expecting them to pay 3 quid to get in to where they could get in for nowt

Obviously success would = lots punters = lots of money if this is what you are in it for but as the flyers say "back to the underground" and most underground nights I know are more interested in a mint party than making money.

it may well be that they need to accept losses for 6 months whilst the clientelle builds up. as long as bankruptcy doesnt loom it'll al be alreet.

    where is the love?

ps: AS WE SAID before paul, chill oot man, you seem to be calling a lot of people half wits,

i am glad for you all that success = numbers = money

I am from PLANET ZOGG where this aint relevant at all

yeah, but you cant really have a mint party without people in the venue, therefore success = numbers. the fact that more numbers = more money for the promoters just emphasises the point.

i didnt mean to be arguementative, i just feel that for any night, free or with a door charge, albeit trance, house, cheese, wotever, the reason to put it on is numbers.

hardly a groundbreaking concept though is it?

garlands have been doing nights on a boat for years. "fairies across the mersey" anyone?

I give up I really do,

why dont you start a poll then Chris,

I am parking this as you fail to see that I like vuzz but altho there are a lot of constructive points in this thread you dont seem to be picking up on them. If you want me to tell you just what you want to here then ok but heres

    heres some questions for starters.

are they running on the right night ?

    are they running too frequently?

are they offering discounted door entry?

are they offereing different prices for different times of entry?

are they putting any local djs on who have big followings

is their an overeliance on the name they are booking?

Is the promotional materila going anywhere outsdie of newcastle?

I aint ganna say nee more on the subject.

No wonder the death of trance looms

    oh and one i forgot

are they barring students who steal the toilet rolls

PS: confuzzled, no one said it was , everything in one sense or another has been done before thats why everyone is bored with it but then again i guess thats why there were 160 people on board for LOCAL dj's twice!

    Yup

there has been an article in Upfront Mag, which is a national mag, albeit aimed a more specific genres hence a smaller circulation that the biggies in the dance music market.

Also some more stuff in the pipeline, I earn every last inch of my free drink!;)

you know for all the bitching and stuff

if there was no trance in newcastle at all, you would all get sick pretty quick

last half a year ive spent most of my nights out in reading which is RnB central and it really does my fucken head in.
we found a hard dance night that plays mostly trancey stuff with a bit of hard house thrown in which everybody seams to think is gash up here) the venue is tiny, theres about 50 people in there max but i fucken love it. its like a little bit of the north east right down south.

makes the monthly trip down ,much more enjoyable knowing im not going to be sitting there in a R&B rapfest wishing i was dead come sat night.

i havnet been to promise @ foundation for Aaaaaaages (although we made the boat on NYD) if people are saying its died down a bit, does that mean all the twats who only went because it was "cool" have fucked off??

So the hardcore are still there?
Sounds like its doing fine then IMO, back down reading in 1 weeks time, cant wait for the bigging up and gold chain wearing puff daddy styley tunes to bang out
