re-arranging forum order is a bit like re-arranging chairs on the titanic, without wanting to sound too harsh.

The site was a big success back when promise was popular, because the website url was driving traffic to the site on a constant basis from the flyers, posters, posters/art in the club itself, and of course through word of mouth.

Take away the night that drove the traffic, and its a bit like setting a ship out to sail without any means of any more passengers getting on. Gradually everyone is going to either jump ship, die off, or catch scurvy.

Basically with the way the scene is in the north east, the various promoters need to get their own self important heads out of their asses and accept the fact that if EVERYONE pushed people to a centralised website to talk about clubbing in the north east, that the turn up to each others nights would probably go up, and the website useage would go up as well.

If everyone instead wants to think that their little/big club night is so important that they dont need to associate with anything or anyone - then its bye bye newcastle clubbing websites.

United you stand, or divided you fall.

I do this stuff for a living, and its so obvious its almost painful at times. Its a shame the penny doesnt drop with some people. At the end of the day is it fair to use this board as a place to advertise your nights, without giving a single thing back to the site itself?

    Not really.

Nucastle.co.uk should be on all promo materials associated with nights that are advertised on here. It works fine for nclbeats.co.uk doesn't it?

What happened to the hosting the back room of various nights idea? And wasn't it called something else why not leave it as nucastle.co.uk presents... Or something similar.

I think you can shift pretty much everything bar going out into general discussion aswell. I only ever read going out and general banter anyways in sure others do the same.

People use this board to promote their nights, yet don't offer anything back.

Meanwhile, Conway uses his own money to finance the board. If anything the promoters who have no problems packing in 200-1000+ people every time they put a night on should be ashamed they arent setting aside their wafer thin sub genre exclusivity mentality and accept the fact that a community is a good thing, and needs to be nurtured.

I'm all for banning promotion of nights outside the north east aswell can't see many people caring too much about what's on at the syndicate etc

Aye Scotty the back room at transfusion was hosted by the boards but it was hampered by a massive room, strange closing times and low turnouts. The Anecdote night at Tokyo had the potential to be good bit barely any fucker turned up.

Conway: get some stickers made and I'll carry a wad of them anywhere I go.

I'm looking into sorting some flyers, posters, or badges/stickers that we can whack about. Anyone who knows a place locally who does all of the above, PM me ;)

Running back room nights is a great idea, but its the cherry on the top of a cake that you have to ice with getting new faces on the board.

Lets face it, most people burn out after a few years and the ones of us that are left represent a small percentage of your average clubber. Putting on nights for each other is nice and all, but its not going to provide the freshness you need. Otherwise its a bunch of old codgers saying how much better it was 'back then'.

    Nail on head

People set up boards like this to involve clubbers in their nights, not to involve clubbers in their website. Thats mainly where we were up against a brick wall with anecdote. The only people who knew about it were mainly on here, despite me and others standing outside digital on god-knows how many nights dishing out flyers.

The podcast night is a good idea, but it needs a lot of polish and hard work to turn into a regular event. To be honest, it only ever gave me the feeling that it would work on a semi-regular (read one-off) basis.

To bring in regular visitors, we need more exposure. Whether some of the local nights would be up for me putting a "nucastle" banner up at their events or having our name on their flyers needs some consideration. I'm prepared to offer financial incentives if thats what it takes.

just wondering how it would work. might give some unknowns the chance to play out. I'd personally like to go to a local residents night where all the local residents (shindig, Habit, Jaunt, Cleer etc) played together.

Bear in mind, bar the cosmic default, there's a distict lack of decent mid sized two room venues in town anarl.
