I told you big Sammi is past it, no doubt Ralfie B will sign some Spainish centre half...............Marcelino is a gem of a player.

Man U played very well it has to be said and deserved the win. Though they got a nice helping hand after Giggs clearly had the last touch before the ball went out for a corner from which Silvestre scored.

I'm still a fan of zonal marking from set-pieces though  It will work long-term.

I don't think he's totally had it but he's looking a littel tired. His tussle with Van Pistelrooy in the 6 yard box had the heart racing. He made a few good tackles but it was Josemi and Carragher who caught the eye with some great defending.

The zonal marking was total chaos and I don't think you can blame poor little Sammi for that one. Was a collective error.

Big Sammi is the man with experience & the leader of the back, if he is not to blame then maybe you should think about blaming Ralfie B

Hyypia + Henchoz = one of the best defensive partnerships the premier league has seen :)

I dont think Hyypia has passed it though...

Nobody is doubting the past, but time has caught up with Sammi.

Does Henchoz make the bench these days?

You can't have a leader with zonal marking from set pieces. There were more than just the denfeders at fault. From what I saw Sami was marshalling his zone. Silvestre came in from a position you'd expect a fullback or midfielder to cover. They didn't know what they were doing whihc reflects badly on them.

But ultimately the problem with the zonal comes from the training pitch so if it's not working then you can only say the players were unsure of it. You could argue there was fault on both parts.

Without really putting in much effort, I would say these 10 are better than what Sammi is like NOW: Mellberg,Terry,Silvestre,King,Campbell,Toure,Rio,Southgate, Carvalho & Gallas

Well put mate. I don't think Silvestre has been playing particualrly well this season. But Sami is still one of the best in the premiership even now.
