who the fuck keeps carrier bags for their next weekly shop, the ones in my house get used on allsots, i take me bate into work with them and so does me mam and dad, they get put inside of the waste bins to stop shite gettin everywhere, at the next shop we have to buy bags because we have neen left! not everyone situ is the same. i for one cant wait for a bit of extra nuclear power and the evolution the so clled un-usable fusion power (conspiracy this and that), if cars ran by hydrogen were affordable id gladly give my beloved 2 litre japanese sports car away to a good home but as it stands its not a viable fuel for the masses until manufacturers bring the costs down. oh how i laugh at the saps who have a toyota prius, worst bandwagon since magners

That's just CO2 emissions (and they're not the figures I've seen), which are not the only thing we're polluting the planet with. In this case I was talking about plastic bags. If you read an earlier post, you'll see that if Newcastle alone didn't use plastic bags for a year, it would result in 43 million less plastic bags being used (very rough estimate). Do you honestly believe that it wouldn't make a difference if everyone either stopped or seriously cut down on using them?

Oh, and you quote that power stations emit 30% of emissions. If we stopped using so much power, there would be less power generated, and therefore less emissions. If you thought about each time you used your car, or took the train instead of taking internal flights etc, that would reduce emissions. This would result in using less fossil fuels, so less need to collect and process them. Saying you're only responsible for 3% is naive.

Do they tell you its 20p to toast it? When they ask you if you want cheese they tactically dont bother telling you its extra so if you want double and your sarnie toasted thats an an extra 60p!!

    Robbing cunts.

Were being robbed by the system every time we do something. A revolution is long overdue!

Myself & my family recycle, and always have even before I was born.

Global warming is a load of crap but running out of certain entities isn't, although there is more known oil reseves than ever before due to the advances in technology...

Charging 5p a bag is profiteering, as is road tax. It's near as damnit £500 a yer for my car next year which is just stupid. If the govt. were that concerned they would fine people who just throw stuff out and have poorly insulated houses. It seems insane to me to be charged a huge amount of money just to keep the car on the road before petrol, running costs & insurance and yet at the same time waste more money by not recycling and having a house that is poorly insulated. You don't see the government handing out fines for not adding cavity/loft insulation or not using double glazing etc.

It's easy money where nothing can be done about it. Blatant profiteering from whichever source is easiest, whether it be the motorist or the grocery shopper. The whole situation is disgusting.

plus a lot of people who's houses aren't insulated to a high standard are on a low income so to tax them is kind of pointless.

and to whoever said that Prius was the new Magners   div

I decided to get my Subway toasted yesterday - 50 Australian cents (which is more than 20p).

    Rip off Britain.

    Both.

    Got back Saturday.

All I heard on news when I was home was moaning about the high price of food, how expensive Britain is etc etc - Australia is a lot more expensive for food (1.20 for a Mars bar, 2 quid for a loaf of bread, 4 quid for a pint etc).

quite ironix how the push for biofuels has the potential to kill millions. food prices are spiralling here, think what its like for africans. anyone got anymre info on that site down in kent i think it was where theyre building 11 mega greenhouses each the size of 10 footy pitches all fedd by hydroponics? cant remember its name. that should hopefully ease our food woes
