    I'm not anti-British as such, but I do tend to think of myself as English rather than British.

    the irish have st patricks day as a national holiday, but, they dont have good friday as a national holiday so they still get the same amount of holiays as us

    it's a saints day. a religious day. go to fucking church and thank the lord - not buy a kebab at 5 in the afternoon wearing a silly hat - THATS what a 'England is Mint' day should be about, then we can have a day off, go to the beach or see stippers in a shit bar in whitely bay - instead we feel we HAVE to do it cause the guinness tell us it's what we do!!

    This should have been a thread in it's own right posted at the time of events. I'd have definitely got off my arse and went to town if I knew this was going on.

    St Georges day should be a holiday but only because it would be another day off.

    The idea of national pride is cheesy and cliched, it reminds me of football rivalry. I don't see how I identify with a group containing so many contrasting ideologies and different people. Apart from sharing the same land mass with a lot of people I probably hate.
