But you celebrate christmas and easter....

theres no escaping who you are and where you came from, a nation without pride is a nation destined to decline; every generation seem even less enthusiastic than the one they followed... liberalism is stain on the British psychee.

    good point like.

Take a look at america and how proud they are of their country.

And see how theyve turned out.

Ok, that was a bad example...

    exactly like the new testament!

It's not about picking your favourite folk hero, it's about identifying with a force that helped sculpt your nation; I'm not a christian, but I'd happily celebrate a christian figure in recognition of England.

Christianity sculpted this nation; the majority of our modern values can be directly linked to the Bible... You may not believe the stories in the Bible, but they effect you.

Wouldn't an English Christian figure be more relevant?

Totally, what I see as right and wrong is 95% based on the teachings of the bible. I have no problem with that at all as I see that to be totally different to what faith I may or may not have. I consider myself to be very Christian in attitude, I'm just not a Christian.

I can't think of one notable saint... we tend to label our kings, religious reformers and their offspring as saints.

i dont know too much about christianity, but I'm guessing all the cool saints will come from the middle east.

    I've got it!

We could have a Christ day when we all celebrate his life on mass.

    Lets call it Christ mass!

    Hang on a minute....

what like gay rights? I don't think so. you can just as easily make a case for the weather having sculpted english values.

go on then forks; present the argument that the weather has had as big an impact on our moral backbone as the teachings of the NEW Testament (bearing in mind much of new the cancels out the original testament).

you were talking about a force that helped to sculpt the nation. you said nothing of moral backbone.
I think that the weather has had an enormous impact on who we are as a people.
Alcohol is another force that has shaped the nation.
    National bladdered day anyone?
