What would be the point of a non-smoking pub where there are smoking pubs? None to be fair, who is going to open a non-smoking pub around here when smoking in public is not banned? That would be commercial suicide. It would have to be ALL pubs, not many owners would choose to do this optionally IMO.

Better ventination/extraction would do in many situations.....

I am not trying to say even slightly that the law should stop smoking outright. I am just in favour of the public ban. If you want to smoke at home/outside when it can only really harm you then thats not going to be an issue with the anti-smoking organisations/supporters.

Do you see people smoking weed in wetherspoons? The whole point of the ban is that you will be able to carry on smoking if you really want to, it's just that you won't be able to subject anyone else to its dangers.
