so why has the child in the article persistently re-offended?

he's been locked up because he's an extreme extreme example of disruptive behaviour. so you suggest every child who does something wrong is placed in a young offenders institute, away from their parents/guardians? surely being isolated from your family is a much more disturbing experience than being hit once or twice?

The teachers have a point though. Why should they put up with the shit they get off kids. Anyone thats brave enough to teach teenagers deserves a medal IMO.

I always wanted to be a teacher but theres no way I could teach any older than 6 or 7. I think it would be a total nightmare

Out of the teachers in my school, there are very few who have control over the class. When ur a teenager at school u make decisions though, if u are going 2 be mature enough 2 realise u have 2 work 2 pass, your alright....unfortunately not everybody thinks that way! Its all about self control...:dunce:

?!?!?!? what are you babling on about - I was using your example...

Just highlighting that children in todays society usually know right from wrong and they each have individual reasons for breaking these rules... you can't treat every case as the same!

    Caning doesn't work.

Not sharing your opinion does not make me an idiot. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion and just because people don't agree with you it does not make them wrong. Get off your high horse, youve got no reason to be on it Joe :monkey:

some kids are twats an will misbehave/break rules/the law whatever you do/don't do to them...

the problem is working out if they do have an addressable problem, or if they just have a warped view of social acceptance...

Which teachers? There is nobody on here who is a teacher? If your referring to CyberChick post, I don't think 'Wor Katie' is the voice of the NUT.

I have 2 very good friends who are teachers & from what I know 'THEY ARE BOTHERED ABOUT ALL THE KIDS THEY TEACH & THEY ALSO GO THE EXTRA MILE TO HELP PROBLEM KIDS'

I would like to think their attitude is the same as there colleagues

I wish more teachers had the same attitude as those you are talking about.
Some of the teachers in my school do care about giving people extra help, but not all of them do....it is obviously going 2 depend on what type of school they teach at aswell?
