from my pov its a very weak line-up, I've seen JJ+CC a few times and its always been the same borderline syrupy stuff and I don't rate dimitri at all after I saw him at beyond last year... the ressies will be the best thing about this night..

however, like paul says shindig birthdays hardly attract the most discerning clubber (not that thats a bad thing by any stretch) so the baltic gig is perfect for the hed kandi crowd on a sunday night..

Not my cup of tea tbh. Wouldn't fancy paying £25 for that, but not knocking it, the reasons speak for themselves

Last time it was there people whinged on:

    Times Square

    And...

I don't see the problem with The Baltic. It's a quality backdrop for the event with the old flour mill and The Sage and, if the weather is spot on like last year then it will be a good night.

So fuck if the line up doesn't please some people. The Residents could be the only dj's on that night and as long as the tunes are good (which they I'm sure they will) then I'll have a good one for sure :)

    You can't please everyone.....

I really like the setup at the baltic, the scenery certainly adds to the atmosphere, and the last three times I've been there it's been a really good night out :D

I'd forgotten I'd had as much of a rant as that about time square  it's understandable given what trafalgar did with the drinks prices. If the dig lads were to try it again things would be very different (especially with them pulling the strings at the other rooms / digital). I'd certainly wish them luck at it and I'd give it another look.

As for the lineup it looks good to me, dimitri has been brilliant on both occasions I've seen him, Junior Jack was good last time too. People always whinge about lineups, and about it not being this, or that, but the last 3 times at the baltic the night (music, djs and all) has been spot on.

If the weather is good this will be a great night out, just like last year

Id have to agree and say the Baltic is much better than Time Square.

Baltic has more of an open plan feel to iot if you know what I mean, Times Square is surrounded - feels like you are inside a huse hole with tall buildings at every side and nothing to look at....

Baltic Sqaure - Tyne Bridge, Millenium Bridge, Sage, Baltic, as well as the entire Newcastle Qauyside surround you and add to the atmosphere.

People say last years line up was rubbish... how on earth you can put Masters at Work into that pigeon hole is beyond me as well! Same with this year, Junior Jack, Dimitri and Romain have all impressed me recently.... More so than Erick Morillo ever has!

Yeah, I had a good laugh at that....

Fair enough you could cater for more dj's and different styles at Times Square but I really like the Baltic events. But, at the same time, regardless to where it is held, I'd still be there because it's something I've done for the last few years, and enjoyed including Times Square :)

Really good point there, the first time I went (sanchez) I thought was awesome, even though morillo was on fire the year after, he didn't get the crowd moving like tim deluxe (before the bicycle incident  ) and at times square he was a disappointment.

Solveig and MAW last year were brilliant and I've got no doubts it'll be the same this time round

I don't thing the Shindig lads can go wrong sticking with Defected for these events to be honest... ideal for outdoor fun in the sun shall we say? haha

For those who prefer things a bit deeper/darker - Deep Dish are on for Part 1 in April as Scooby said.

    exactly

how many non-shindig regulars are gonna wanna dance to peace division or danny howells at an event like this?

its gotta be accessible and pretty easy listening for where it is

    thanks for the positive comments...

to be honest we were starting to find it a bit difficult to come up with funky/party Bank Holiday Style DJs that can have mass appeal but are still good(it is 3000 tickets afterall) without going down the Morillo route...Solvieg and MAW were spot on last year

I think this has something for everyone... dimitri and romain played right cross the board at Digital the other month...Romain was playing stuff by switch and just good solid house tracks.. then dimitri housed it up a bit with the odd classic chucked in...

and obviously JJ KK do their big bassline thing aswell (they even chucked a couple of more electronic angello style tracks in the mix)..

we did also try for felix da housecat and armand van helden... but felix couldnt do it, and armand isnt taking any bookings until he finishes his album, which was a shame... would have been good adding someone else onto the bill to end the night off...

But its my favourite night of the year, so cant wait regardless...!
