I dont think it will sort it self out for the foreseeable future, weekly clubbing could be a thing of the past. A lot of people used to go out on borrowed money (from their mates or the bank)

Now with the way things are people are boxing cleaver with their money, They have to. To be honest i can only afford the one offs at Shindig now. Fatboy was one of the best nights out i've had this year.

I think this is a situation that has been effecting every clubnight in newcastle for the past year or more and has finally ate it's biggest night up.

It is a shame for those die hards that still can do it! And of course Shindig all together.

What was that video for though Neil? It's shit. 30 secs long? For nothing. Honestly though lads all the best for the future and i'll no doubt i'll be at the one offs and the bank holidays you do. Im exited aswell, as thats all i can afford now

The people who are saying its a sad day that it isnt going to be on weekly probably dont go every week anyway. So what difference does it make.

Hope it sorts itself out in the end but there is some good coming from it I suppose - how many people stopped going because it was at digital?

To be honest I doubt any of us on here can afford to go to a particular night every week.

I'm looking forward to seeing what becomes of this. I've never been digital's biggest fan - it's got a great sound/light system but has always felt a little soulless.

To see a decent party in some different spaces will be great :)

Best of luck with it lads

Mixed feelings on this one. I am made up shindig will be held at different venues away from digital as it needed a change i think, not knocking digital at all just you do get tired of the same venue every week for 4 years, there is no getting away from that. Will be interesting and refreshing to see where it goes.

On the other hand its a bit dissapointing as having a big weekly event in newcastle is exactly what the city needs, maybe this might open doors for another night to takeover a weekly schedule, who knows but i very much doubt they will be as good as shindig each week. I've been more often than not this year so thats probably why it feels like something's being taken away but if its for the benefit of the brand then compromises have to be made i suppose, as has been said the way people approach clubbing these days is mainly down to money. In an ideal world everyone would love to get on it every weekend but it can't be done for most people as the coin just isn't there. Selective clubbing is the state we're in and its obviously heightened during the festival season. Add the fact that alot of people are under the thumb now and have to stay in to watch x-factor or go to tesco's for the weekly big shop( on a saturday night!) then numbers are going to struggle.

After saying that i think the new approach sounds encouraging like and could be the boost clubbing needs, some variety away from the tried and tested (and gurned) digital experience. There will be more time to build up to an event, thus generating more interest, making it something to generally look out for and forward to.

    Good luck with it :cool2:

I cannot think of another weekly house club night in the UK that has lasted 17 years weekly to the degree Shindig have. Yes, there is subclub and basics (both amazing clubs) but their capacity is nowhere near shindigs (digital is a huge club to fill every week).

I know how difficult it is to run a club night even on a monthly basis so I doff my cap to Scott and Scooby - there will not be many worldwide who have come close to what they have done.

I can safely say Habit would not of existed without Shindig. Look forward to future Shindig plans.

    Viva Shindig !

total end of an era. crazy times.....

fair play for 17 years like, with jaunt we find it hard enough getting everything in place when u have 2 months to plan so fuck knows what it is like organising a night weekly as big as shindig

this will probably have a knock on effect to newcastle house/techno clubbing in general now seen as there isnt going to be huge international guests comming to the city each week

looking well forward to seeing what the future plans are and i hope things go well, its going to be weird without shindig every saturday. its been the standard crack since myself, all my mates, and shit loads of other people out there 1st started clubbing

Tbh I think Shindig gets taken for granted a lot of the time. Aye fair enough I dont go nearly as much as I used to and the line-up doesnt always interest me but but its always nice to know that there's somewhere decent to go on a Saturday night :cool2:

Like Blackhall said, we have enough trouble sticking an event on every other month never mind every week. Its only a handfull of nights that ever manage to last this long so massive respect to you for that. You definitely played a massive part in shaping my taste’s over the years. Tbf if it wasn’t for Shindig I wouldn’t have met 99% of my mates

Good luck with whatever it is you’re doing lads

I've been going to Shindig for the best part of 10yrs now and I can see this is a massive decision for those involved. But I also know that I can put my total trust in them to make the right decision at the right time.

Although Shindig has been one of the biggest house nights in the UK they've never been looked at as a commercial/corporate "brand" as Lee, Scott and everyone else involved have always beens mates with, or known by, a lot of people that have been through their doors over the last 17yrs or so. We can look at it as a massive shame that weekly nights are no more and, although it is a shame, weekly clubbing just isn't sustainable in the current financial climate. All may be fine now, but add a year or two more to any nights outgoings against incomings in Newcastle and they'll give a pretty accurate reflection of how things really are in our city.

One off nights are the way forward. I got made redundant after 7 yrs with the same company earlier this year so, like Mick said, the odd night will be better for me. I'm looking forward to what's been planned.

I still have to add I NEVER saw this coming from Shindig, but I suppose that's because I stopped hassling Lee for guesty's when I got stuck under the thumb of a woman when I moved in with her late last year and have only saw the club about once a month since :(.....

    Good luck in the future.

Remember though, these are just the last Saturdays at Digital.. It's by no means the end of Shindig on Sat's.. or any other night.. I'm quite sure if people do want a fix there will be a couple of nights a month to come out to.. Maybe more at times, let's see..

Lawler and Vincenzo tonight, and loads of cracking nights still before we leave.. :)

We ain't rolling over just yet..

    aye.
I think you have pretty much summed up what i would have posted there mate

It cant be underestimated how much work must have went into running a successful weekly club night for 17 years, i know through minor involvement in some smaller nights how much work goes into them and to run weekly successful events the size of Shindig for so long is a huge fucking achievement, one that only a handful of promoters in the UK can even come close to :king:

As much as it is a shock and will be strange not having Shindig on weekly i can fully understand the reasons for it. Best of luck lads, look forward to seeing what is planned for the future :D

Such a loss to the Newcastle club scene. The amount of times I've been out drinking and just needed to go and listen to some quality music and be with like minded people and Shindig has been there to provide it! Now it's going. Totally gutted. Digital has never been Foundation but then again it was virtually impossible to make a club has good (IMO).

I really hope WHQ isn't going to be used more often because I just don't get the place. Feels like some little dark Youth club!

Lets hope it goes on for another 17 years and I've still got somewhere to go after my 40th!
