Ive used vinyl, cdj, ableton, traktor and serato extensively and I would put them in this order Serato - good fun + can play both records and digital/risk of laptop crashing in club conditions. Vinyl - most fun/so expensive CDJ - godsend if you are mortal/burning cd's is a pain in the arse Ableton - boring unless you have 4 or more channels going/godsend if you are mortal Traktor - not a fan in the slightest.
have to agree there si, however, the risk of ssl crashing can be dropped to the same degree as a cd player locking up/not reading a disc or a needle snapping on a deck if you load it as a shell - ie bypass windows loading altogether then its just down to how you set up the files - if you do as they recommend its pretty much bomb proof a lot of people slate the 'laptop' solution, but if everything is set-up right, there should be no more risks than with the other options. as much as i would have loved to put vinyl at the number one spot, in this era, i just cant put it above ssl, it makes mixing fun again (it did for me anyway) i don't really drink now i use the laptop at gigs - still not sure if that's bad or good
im thinknig of selling my cdj1000 mk2 (just tghe 1),,never used, like new... any idea of prices and maybe any takers...going to wards new corner seat in the hoose
sorry was referring to the actual conditions of a club such a heat, humidity etc rather then the software crashing. Had my laptop crash at the Cosmic which i reckon was down to the heat/smoke.
