I really hope that road tax thing doesnt come in :(

Are there any plans to recycle plastic? We recycle every bit of tin, glass and paper but we have loads of plastic. Can you put aerosols in the recycle bin?

Also with a compost pile, do the local animals not have a field day in it?? Eurgh

of course you can recycle plastic. we bag everything up separately, it doesn't have to fit in the box the Council still take it. You can't put aerosols in.

What kind of "local animal" are you talking about?? Wolves? I've never seen my cat rooting through the compost heap, but as it's filled with composting vegetables, soil and cardboard that doesn't really surprise me.

My lass takes all our stuff to the local recycling centre ..... the council (lib dems and now conservatives) give you a single black bin to put all your stuff in. Wierd since its a 'posh' area and you'd think all those bored rich housewives with nothing to do would be all up for that kind of thing.

we get 2 wheelie bins, one for recycled stuff which is all paper plastic tin cans etc, and one for everything else. Glass goes to a bottle bank. organics go to be composted.
It works well and isn't rocket science.
those little recycling boxes are just a joke, it needs something with a lid that won't attract rats.
But all this costs money. If you throw away loads of stuff why should I pay to subsidise you? And if you already do it MoS then you wouldn't get charged anyway

Our council doesnt collect plastic recycling and the there arent any local drop off places that I know of, altho admittidly its not something Ive spent time on.

And we have loads of cats, hedgehogs, mice etc in our street. We already get loads in our garden cos of the bird food we put out. If Im dumping left-over food, cat litter and stuff in a hole or corner of my garden, Im sure it will attract something more. I might try it tho

    1. never put cat litter in the compost heap, it's full of wee and is made of clay which won't do your garden any good

    2. if you put your rubbish in a hole it's just rubbish, not a compost heap

    3. Buy a large plastic composter, they look like a bin with a cat flap at the bottom to let the compost out. They cost about a tenner and will keep nasty things out and flies in. I've lived in my house for over 6months and have never seen a mouse yet

I wouldnt put just rubbish in it haha. Make my own land fill in my little back garden? Shame about the cat litter, we chuck so much out. But them bins sound good  We frequently get little gifts of mice from our cats so there must be plenty around ours.

thats the one that REALLY pisses me off! it basically means that if i wanna keep my mother's house that i grew up in i need to borrow £140k from somewhere to pay the government or pull a dodgy fast one which could be called money laundering!! All i can say is I'm glad I know how finance works coz when the day comes the government's not getting a sodding thing if i can help it!!
