It looks like it has got a bit too much for Roy. I think Roy fell out with the Sunderland fans during the Northampton game & beating us glossed over it. The booing of the Sunderland captain today probably made him realize the SAFC gig is not for him, it may turn out to be his last job in football.

Also the whole playing it cool & not signing the contract extension always seemed like mere smokescreen. I think the Irish mob & the Yankee are unlikely to back him with big £££'s & no one will be willing to buy the players he wants to sell. So I cant see Sissy joining in the summer on a full time basis. It may be that Jones will need to be sold for £££'s so £££'s can be spent in Jan.

I really thought Jones & Sissy would be a great pairing but then maybe the rumors of the T & T blacks not getting on with the French/African blacks at SOL is true.

.Sunderland are actively seeking a replacement for Roy Keane.

Stadium of Light chiefs are drawing up a short-list in the event Keane leaves.

And Hull boss Phil Brown, a lifelong Sunderland fan, is believed to be a front-runner.

The new contract which has been lying on boss Keane's desk for the past two months is still unsigned.

A source close to the Sunderland board told People Sport: "Obviously the directors want Roy Keane to stay and that's why they have offered him the best contract in the history of this football club.

"But the longer the contract stays unsigned, the more the concern grows and the board would be silly if they did not start looking around."

Would many clubs be willing to take on Keane after his stint with Safc? hes proved not a lot. Most teams can come up from the championship and i think he did this on the buzz that hit the club with his arrival. Lucky to stay up last year and favorites to go down at this moment in time.

He's a self centered moody enigma and this contract farce cant be doing the team any good. I dont think teams will be clambering to sign a manager who trys to hold the club to ranson "othewise ill go" just look what happened to keegan.

A club would mad to sign Keane after this the only club stupid enuff would be Newcastle Utd FC who would probablly follow up with the signing of Willian Gallas as club captain

why does every comment made by a sunderland fan have to revolve around newcastle in some way, yous are obsessed

I hope he goes my self though, some of his signings and his team selections etc have been a bit offside like

I still think its funny how were the club in a "crisis" yet still better off than the scum, albeit not much better off but still better!

you right leaving the club on bad terms after only one good season and a mediocre one would hardly put him in the shop window for a top managerial job, its in his best interests to stay for atleast another couple of seasons and actually follow through what hes started

As he is genuinely a decent Manager, his ethics & the way he's kicked juvenile players into touch making them (try) and play with passion are what most clubs look for, he's just surrounded by shite.

His days are numbered there I think, he's worked wonders for SAFC but think he's took you's as far as he can, 6 defeats in 7 games and YET AGAIN in the relegation zone....
