It just doesn't engage me at all. I like my music to have something a bit more interesting about it...

Personally speaking, they could be playing through a crystal clear system, and it still wouldn't interest me.

I see what you're saying about the system being important , so you can hear all the little tricks/subtleties in the tunes, but if it's not intersting - which I don't think the stuff they're playing at the moment particularly is - having a good system is irrelevant.

    Agree with your point, Si.

For example, listening to Rob Hood sets at home or in the car kind of misses the point when he's doing the militant minimal thing . But hearing him on a huge system totally changes the music into something really powerful.

Your right about minimal music needing to be heard on a big, clear system but i've seen Hawtin on one and still wasn't impressed.

Whats all this shite about he's turned minimal and housey.

You do realise hawtin is plastikman and as plastikman he has produced minimal, acidy, clicky techno for over a decade - sheet one - anyone? He also owns minus records - who's motto is minimize to maximize - if memory serves me right.

I for one think the music he plays now is brilliant, I thought pressure was brilliant and cannot wait to go and see him @ cocoon in frankfurt next weekend.:D

    :.chesco.:

Hmmm. The thing is, I think Sheet One is absolute genius, while the stuff he is doing now is just boring imo.

Thats your opinion. I for one as a Dj love what he is doing just now. As I clubber you cant beat getting taken by the stuff he plays just now, its fixating and hypnotising. Both him and Villalobos are class acts, just because they choose a style that doesnt follow the usualy "bang it oot" style that alot of techno has become it doesnt make it boring. Few people who know music would ever say hawtin is boring..

It is my opinion, yeah. Just the same as that was your opinion.

I find him boring. Doesn't mean you have to and it doesn't mean I don't 'know music' just because I do. Obviously everyone doesn't find him boring otherwise he'd not be playing all over the world every weekend.

And for the record, i absolutely hate the "Bang it oot" style that you refer too.

What makes you the authority to decide who does and who doesn't "know music " for fuck sake, that's one of the most elitist comments I've heard.

Regardless of your opinion you should understand that you are not THE authority on dance music, techno or any music for that matter - No-one is.

If you really "knew music" as you put it you would understand that music is almost 100% SUBJECTIVE, which means that what one person likes might not be the same as another person, but that doesn't mean either person is wrong, it's just some things get one sort of person going that don't do the same for everyone - it's the little thing in life we call diversity :D

    Blagh blagh blagh...

First of all I said "you wont find many people who know their music, saying its boring" thats not subjective thats fact.

    Secondly, fuk off...

    Firstly: Get a grip mate,

Secondly: MUSIC IS SUBJECTIVE, SO HOW CAN YOU SAY THAT "YOU WON'T FIND MANY PEOPLE WHO KNOW THERE MUSIC, SAYING ITS BORING" - what you mean is "THERE AREN'T MANY PEOPLE WHO LIKE THE SAME MUSIC AS ME, SAYING IT'S BORING"

You obviously live in a very small world

Thirdly: If you can't handle a sensible, intelligent discussion then I reckon it's you that should do one
