lol the jews purchased land from arabs and absentee landowners... 75% of which was barren desert land... which the jews then cultivated and made inhabitable.

The arabs continuesly attacked and inavded the jews, leaving the jews with no option but to fight back....

As for the refugees, the majority of arabs living in these camps left israel of there own accord, after neighbouring arabs nations and the arabic media told them to leave.

yes some purchases were made but loads of palestinians, especially in tel aviv were driven out at gunpoint. The brits who were nominally in charge had just finished a war and were in no mood to start another so they turned a blind eye. And the brits felt guilty for not stopping the holocaust which they could have done. So the palestinians were fucked over as a result of zionist frenzy and allied guilt.
I stayed with a bloke in Jerusalem whose family had been driven out at gunpoint.
Of all the people on the planet the jews should know what happens when you demonise a race and treat them as less than human. And this has been happening to the palestinians for years.

Perhaps you should try talking to both sides, I have palestinian and israeli friends, I read both israeli and palestinian text books... You should try doing the same.

The Jews moved back to their homeland legally, there was no invasion - the land was purchased - as these communities grew in numbers the neighbouring arabs started launching attacks on these peaceful settlers.

It was decided that the only way these two neighbours would coexist was if they were to divide the state into two nations, the Palestinians rejected this notion as they didn't believe in the right for the Israeli state to exist.

Which is nonsensical when you look at both the legal and historical claims to the land.

The arabs then launched invasion after invasion... Ever since there settlement in Israel they've been on the defensive.

    To suggest otherwise is stupid....

we were not sure what they were, there were suspicions but not facts. plus if we bombed them they would have killed the poor jews anyway, not to mention hitlers buddy made mobile gas chambers

and the japanese forces meant that british and american forces had to create a front in asia wher instead they could have concentrated on europe and had the nazis crushed well before they eventually were.

and the west bank settlements? they were purchased too?
It's the "homeland " bit that gets me. Just how far back do we think people can claim land as theirs by right?

maybe you are right lee but the allies did feel guilt for what had happened to the jews and wanted them to have some recompense. It's just the palestinians copped it in the neck in order to acheive that

Its circumstantial, ever since the jews were expelled from their land they have wandered the planet - this resulted in them being hte most hated people on the planet and eventually ending the attempted extermination of the jewish people.

    What other alternative was there?

I do not support the west bank settlements in their current form, however I dont see why jews shouldn't be allowed to live in these areas... Let us not forget that barak offered the palestinians both areas (along with a palestinian state with arab jerusalem as its capital, $30 billion in compensation for the refugees and a whole host of other things) and the palestinians turned this down!

well I think jews and palestinians should be able to live where they like. If the refugees were allowed to return then a whole lot of hatred could be healed. Anyway the bottom line is that religion of whatever kind causes division and hatred.

evolution still hasn't been conclusivley proved, there is still plenty of debate although the evidence for is great there are still some big gaps.

plus there is reason to say that a 'higher power' intended evolution.

mate there is conclusive evidence in most species to prove evolution.

if got created man and woman on the seventh day what day did he create dinosaurs on?

these fableswould be beleivable before science taught us that such creatures existed.

each to their own mate but until god gives me a bollocking first hand for not beleiving them im sticking with science

im being pedantic :D but i did geology and there are still gaps that need explaining but its all way over my head, i only studied it for the dinosaurs

still, as i said earlier, i really like theology and being impartial i listen to both sides, but there are massive arguments for much of the old testament to not be taken literally. the whole 7 days thing... what is a day to god? 24 hours or other different scales? the ark story has elements of truth as apparently there was a huge flood that wiped out much of the world that is covered in the bible. the bible also claims that the world is spherical well before any proof was there.

theres loads of little things that have elements of truth or alternative explanations. of course it may just all be cooincidence and bollox, but no one can prove it either way until the time machine is invented ;) just dont get me started on the new testament tho, cant beat a good religious debate!
