If you're referring to me then I wasn't discussing whether it was legal or not, I was saying that whether it's illegal or not - ie whether it's somewhere you can put up poster legally or not - it is not right to put posters over something else that still hasn't happened - it's these things we call politieness, common decency and respect for other people trying to do the same thing as you and put a good night on.

And for the record it doen't just happen in illegal places, people in this city have replace posters in, AND taken flyers from shops and takeaways for events such as the Green festival which I've put up before.

So? Why should that be governed by politeness and common decency?

With regard to the whats on forum. I appreciate Marks help with regard to this. I hope we contribute a similar service with our site.
I am in the process of designing a new, better site and their will be a link to promise once up and running.

All the posters I put up are in either Uni on boards, where all other promoters incuding Promise put theirs. I also put in record shops, take aways and sandwhich shops with permission.

Cant see any law breaking there so some people need to get off their legal high horses.....With flyers, they are placed in shops with permission.

I think Ward 10's have a really good point. It is manners not to post on top of other nights. Smaller nights and are on very tight budget. Its disheartning when someone sticks one of theirs right over yours. I would never do it to another promoter. All it takes is a little time and common courtesy to move the orignal poster.

Promoters should be working together not against each other.

lets just clear something up first of all - i dont give a shite about the legal side of it,after all, whether its ward10,promise,shindig,back to basics, steels social club whoever we shouldn't really be doing it.fact.

my beef is other clubs posting over another clubs poster.

how hard is that to understand.

confuzzed - the point you made about they might not have seen the poster underneath.shite.believe me,they will have seen it.do you think the kids who run this boards night would be happy if the shoe was on the other foot.no.

andrew w - you obviously haven't put your knackers on the choppin block and put your hand in your pocket to fork out for promotion of a night.it is probably pennies to a night like promise, but to us it is the difference as to whether we can put on another party or not.

    hairy - good crack fella.

Becasue we are a civilised species who by our evolution have gradulally learnt to co-operate and live in existence and harmony with our fellow man (or woman).

If we all just did whatever the fuck we liked, whenever we liked the world would be full of fuckwits like you with their head stuck up there own arses. :D

Why should anything be governed by these things?

You obviously haven't got a clue mate.

I'm sorry mate but you're just being naive if you think there is any code of conduct in fly posting. If you want to use posters to promote your night you need to accept that you may have to repost yours every day.

If you were putting on events in my neck of the woods (Sheffield) you would not even be able to afford to do any posting (sorry I'm presuming that, you would be looking at several £100 per month for a few sites) cause it's all run by one company who charge the going rate for such effective advertising.

You should count your blessings that you can flypost at all and not even bother complaining when you don't get as much coverage as you hoped.

If you have a message for the guys who do the posters you can pm or email it to me and if it's not abuse I'll pass it along.

Everybody has been a bit quick to give this lad shit here imo! He's only asked for some info. If the date is on his poster is clearly displayed, it's bad crack if somebody from Promise has just stuck one on top, surely there is other places for Promise one's, and I can't imagine Promise being very please if it happened to them.

Fair points about the legal and 'what's on forum', but IMO I don't really think it warranted tbf! Rob's made the point about Sheffield, but it's a different situation up here, there is no where near the same about of clubs, etc, and most of them try and help other out, and not shit on each other.
