Promise needs boy/girl friday !

There's more to DJing than just matching beats and selecting good tunes. You have to be able to take it when people criticise or slag you off. You said you can take criticism but not slagging off- what's slagging you off got to do with your DJing??? -Nothing, but if it does then it'd be classed as criticism, which you said you can take.

A good DJ won't let the fact that other people try to destroy him/her get to them. Aye a pleasant word goes a long way and a harsh on can be equally damaging, but you just gotta think, "bollocks to the lot!!" For example, I played in the DJ comp., never got through but everyone I know said they thought it was canny good, or even mint. BUT, I think, maybe they only said that and didn't wanna put me down. It'd be far better if I had an outside opinion (go on Smart E, hit me!!!!). The only people close to me who I'd probably accept as being honest, are those that would say, "nah it wasn't very good," like my brother -he's always been honest in the past (incidentally he said I put on a good show, which is a confidence boost.)

The world is harsh and honest opinions can hurt, but its the only way you learn. You've obviously got ability, so the best thing you can do is silence your critics by playin a blindin set for them. That way you'll boost your own confidence! and it's probably the only way you'll progress, as people who don't know you aren't gonna be so kind to you when you mess a mix up or owt.

As for this thing with Smart E, I dunno what was said or owt, but I wouldn't let it get to you even if he threw the biggest insult in the world at you n it wouldn't stop me goin to Promise. You don't have to see him to have a good time (no offense Smart E ), and u don't have to talk to him on this board.

Think you obviously take things too personal, but by being positive and ignorin any jibes at you, you'll go from strength to strength.

What i mean by slaggin is people dissin djs for the way they look, if they are shy, loud, dress, watever, not the real reason...the performance and skill!!I HATE THAT!thats like me slaggin mauro picotto for the way he looks.....i dont,thats nasty&uncalled for i wud winge at what he plays n why hes famous for it...!!i dont wana b judged by people who havnt a clue, people who wud be judging (not all ov em) havin less than a clue than the dj SUCKS..n pisses me off!!!I dont mind critasizm, every dj needs it, any person who wants to succeed need to b pointed where they goin rong!IIIEEEEE????i sit n pull my hair own, chuk my records.smash fings&scream untill i get things perfect&if sum still says its poo, i just sigh n start again, its just a rope init, u fink ur at the top all the fookin time n ya not, ya still climbin, i dont mind...god gave me arms!!!

Wasn't and WOULDN'T underestimate you for bein a girl, it makes no diff as so many female DJs have proven (all except Sonique ), except I don't think you're right in sayin you're better at all the other lark cos your attitude is wrong- you wouldnt let someone who was harsh/nasty stop you from "pursuing... dreams" as you said earlier. You'd just think "stuff it" and get on with it!! If that's you bein better than yr beat matching then yr beat matching must suck!! You'll not get anywhere with that attitude- look in the Fergie post and see the difference in opinion about him..... some love him, some hate him because of different tastes. U mite play a set that floats Joe's boat, but u might not- there's only one way you'll ever find out!!
