i wasnt cryingbout promise being back just find it a bit of a coinsadinse that its reopening less than 4 months after its closure pvd at promise would be canny but doubtful
Fucking hell do you guys never shut the fuck up. Are you people never happy, When promise was open you slated it. Then Mark said it was finished and you were all gutted and went on like fucking big kids. Suddenly he sais it might be coming back in feb/march and all you wankers can do is moan and pick faults before it is evan here. Absolute fucking wankers !!!
Not everyones moaning. i never moaned when it was here or slated it - i did moan when it left cause i was sorry to see it go. I'm not moaning now it's back (if it is) cause i'm happy it's back and will definately go - but the point is the whole situation has caused a lot of confusion that has left some people with questions.
Its not whinging - its customers pointing out that they all turned up 'en masse' to support the supposed final night of an event they all turned up to at one point or the other over the past five years... .... to be told that this might not have been the case and 'oh it might be on in a few months time again' At the end of the day the outcome might be positive - but for some of us it feels like a bit of manipulation going on behind the scenes. Theres a fine line to walk when doing this kind of thing i think, because you can end up simultaneously pleasing half your audience, and making the other half feel like fools on the other.. The customer is always right - first rule of business, however frustrating that is to accept.
Promise Feb/march 2006 ? HAVING READ JUST ABOUT EVERY POST ON THIS THREAD ONE THING STRUCK ME _____ WHERES MARKS RESPONCE TO ALL THIS SPECULATION FOLLOWING HIS POST ??????????????????? ME THINKS SOMEONE ENJOY`S PUTTING THE CATS & PIGEONS TOGETHER FOR THERE ENJOYMENT
From retail I can say that the customer is NEVER right. (unless of course I happen to be arguing as a customer and the sales assistant is clearly at fault )
That's total bollocks to be fair - Foundation was all monthly house nights for a while at the weekends, and each of them bordered on deserted (apparently ). As for electro and hip hop and varied stuff - I think Wax On and the students unions have it sown up really... Trance is too stuck on big name DJ's to be a really profitable night - but that said Promise had far more people (paying far more of the door) than Soul heaven or any of rest of them. Mark is right to try and shift the focus from the DJ's, I'm just not sure how. Vice was a great idea, but needed far more promo work to get it started. Sooo....if it's big name trancers, it'll work monthly, but would have to be at foundation for the capacity, if it's a shift away from the DJ's, it's Gershwins and a new music policy imo.
fucking hell man, mark makes one post and theres arguments and bitching all over the shop. he's said a possible return in feb/march, though this could be a one off or anything. if this is going to be the start of a regular night then i personally hope it takes off, if nothing else just to stop me going to shitty house nights people go on and on about the trance scene being 'dead' though put on a decent line up in foundation/digital or anywhere in town and the club would be full. Fact
i doubt he'll book SVD, but then again he hasnt responded so noone has a clue what his plans are for the future other than hes putting these 2 nights on. If this is just a one off then its probably gonna be a cash in so i doubt he'll book SVD as he's not the biggest name and won't fill the place, whereas if he's planning on keeping the night going he might get back to experimenting with less known names again to see how things go.
