Either mix it to MD and he'll stick it on his comop and onto CD, or wait til he gets his new decks (weds I think) and do it there :p

I thought Foundation had a pair of the new Stanton STR8-150's? A bit off subject but what does everyone think of em?

I'd say Bigdave, Che or Diamond Phil are top contenders. But as last year showed you never know...

Actually, will Vuzz DJ's be allowed to enter since they are affiliated with Promise and Quality?

I may be wrong then, it's been a long time since I was upstairs in Foundation.

After the farce that went on with the PDX2000s a few years back though, I don't think Foundation would install anything other than 1210s :)

    Amuse me...

Define techno; don't name a DJ that you think plays techno; don't name a track that you think is techno. Simply define it.

    I'm waiting...

Not really Ness. How can you discriminate when you specify exactly what you want? Would any disgruntled garage DJ's like to say anything? *tumbleweeds blow past*

    Re: Amuse me...

What you mean a techno tune that I'm playing at the moment?

How about anything off Chris Liebing's new album Evolution?

    Marco Bailey - Mojito

    Tom Hades - Cartanega

Dave the Drummer - Bedroom Jazz Tangle

All tunes I'm liking at the moment, all techno but some with other influences. I think that's what makes techno so great....it can incorporate different styles and influences!

    Amusing...

You did exactly what I told you not to do. You quoted DJ's and tracks.

    Try again. Define techno.

:dunce: - I thought it read don't name a DJ, name a tune that defines techno! * slaps wrist *

I think any genre of dance music is hard to define without giving examples. Techno to me is dance music in it's rawest form, usually with very little melody. The beats are usually hard and driving but because it is dance music in its simplest form there is a lot of scope for creativity and experimentation.

I realise that may not be up to your HND level but I have tried to do what you asked! :)

firstly, techno is used in all forms of dance music, a definition of it i think depends on your own opinion towards its sound... theres this age old argument on this board of whether picotto is techno or not........ well, in my opinion he definitely has a 'tech' influence and for those that havent listened to a dave clarke, umek or rush set picotto is a lot different. He has his own sound.
I dont think you can define techno, as a base genre.

Anyways, Lee, i remember you saying this a while back and i agree with you, its used in all forms of dance music, even the floatiest of trance!!!

thing is, my question for you - define the trance your wanting from us????

    To answer...

A good answer Paul, but the actual answer is very simple.

Techno is electronically generated music. It's as simple as that. The purists on the board can argue till they grow brains, but the simple fact of the matter is this; any music, which is electronically generated or synthesised is techno.

    :)
