yeah I wasn't sure if it was pet sounds or steel wheels, it's been shut for ages, reckon some of the old stock might turn up at that 2nd hand place on Grainger Street along from forbidden planet

Force 10 is pretty much all vinyl, staff are well friendly, its mainly makina and euro dance stuff with some house and trance and various other styles... At least have a look in, you might find something special!

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

everyone should buy vinyl... CDs are for wedding djs really, and people who can't afford dubplates... stop kidding yourselves...:D

the only people who rely on CDJs are House, Techno and Trance DJs, everyone else seems to use predominantly vinyl... DnB, Dubstep, HipHop, Breaks, Reggae, Indie, Garage etc...

    and while i'm at it...

CDJ BPM Counters - if you rely on these, you can't DJ. Simple as that.

Lol how the CDJ argument has changed, 5 years ago 90% of people had the same opinions as Aems

I agree on the everyone should buy vinyl front, but your info is way off on the genres... breaks is dominated by cdj's these days, partly due to the number of breaks labels going belly up with amato (IIRC), but also because virtually all the labels are sending their promos out on cd now, plus a lot of the producers / dj's email each other their latest tracks for road testing prior to release. Their's also a fqair few sacking off the cd's and moving onto serato as well.

Same with dubstep - at least the dubstep lot at the last freaky couldn't manage without 2 cdj's.

Indie - eh... maybe big neil coz he's got a fucking huge vinyl collection, but he'd be the exception surely.

oh, and techno - well over 50% of our headliners, and most of our residents are still mostly vinyl with the odd cd thrown in for unreleased stuff, and most of the rest are ableton or serato or something like that. maybe the minimal lot are different:confused:

    load of utter bullshit.

I was at a wedding on friday and the bloke was using a laptop. Not only that but he kept trying to loop stuff and failing miserably (imagine someone looping the first 10 seconds of queen's don't stop me now and you get the picture  )

I use whatever the track I've bought is on - no DJ confines themselves to just one format. I have CDs & vinyl and tend to use both at the same time instead of just one or the either.

lol @ all your responses... i admit, i was purposely stoking the fire slightly... however, i wouldnt say i was speaking "utter bollocks" as someone so eloquently put it... it IS true to an extent... i sell my tracks on MP3 sites and so, to criticise cdjs is a bit hypocritical... like i say, i was stoking the fire... it was interesting to see how quickly you all jumped to the defence of cds... i do like playing with the option of cdjs, but it still feels slightly like cheating to me... loop points, ultra pitch etc etc... i understand technology moves quickly but it is amazing that (as mentioned) how much everyones attitudes have changed... a few years ago my opinion would have been echoed by the majority... i still feel a little sad when a dj turns up with a load of cds and no vinyl OR when a nightclub doesnt have turntables (which is an absolute travesty)... its just wrong. it looks and feels wrong. but, times have changed. i will still be using mostly vinyl for as long as possible.

however, i still think that if you have to rely on bpm counters, then you can't mix.
    :p

Worst thing I ever saw was an "oldskool legend" DJ playing all his and other's early 90's classics on CD's :(
