Well, yes in a way Joe, but you are forgetting that a circumcision or a baptism are not reversible things? You may permit a child to watch television, then take that away, but surely dressing in clothes and schooling are legal requirements of this country?

So why should you do it to a child is all im asking. Who ever it is, whatever thier age, it is still "forcing your beliefs" on someone.

WORD. Religion may be 'interpretive' but when you are supposed to live your lives by them would you get into trouble with your God for not following them?

My personal interpretation of the Bible is that it is a make believe story, much like we have stories with morals in today - so since I have interpreted the Bible this way, will i go to "Hell"? somehow I am unsure that I would, I would simply stand at the pearly gates and repent my sins in life.

Oh man, there are so many things that I want to answer in this post but I've got so much work on at the moment!!! If the worst comes to the worst I'll answer them after all my deadlines on the 7th December, but i WILL answer them!!! British laws were designed for British society, Jewish laws were designed for Jewish society - as someone external to Jewish culture you may find their beliefs alien - but they have the right to practise their own strand of faith without your judgement.

There are actually sound medical benefits to circumcision, but thats straying off the point

If a parent raises a child to the best of their ability, you can't question it... they may do it differently to how you would raise your own, but that doesn't mean it is wrong.

Faith plays as a large a part in many families as politics and science do in yours, its not your place to tell them they can't raise their child religiously... to do so would be fascist.
