just saw that Ports had won, was completely surprised that there wasnt a new thread poking fun at pike
In all honesty, even as a toon supporter I just can't see us getting even a point at Villa Park on Saturday much as it pains me to say it. Man United will field a 3rd string team out on Saturday and Chelsea have fuck all too play for so i'm in a complete negative mood. Think i'll just dive into a hole all weekend and surface Monday for work and read the newspaper to find out what happened
Thought we looked okay until they scored, and fancied us to go on to get something when we took the lead. Same old story though, no leadership (on or off the field) and no idea how to close the game down at 1 - 0 up. If we had held on to every game that we were leading in, we would currently be in 6th position and preparing for europe next season, which says it all really. The individual mistakes for the first 2 goals were shocking, Leadbitter providing the assist for the 1st and then Anton looking like he was in a hole when that ball was played down field for their second. Not good enough really like, though it says a lot that we have played a lot worse over the past couple of months as well - not half as bad as the West Brom, Everton games etc. If we do go down it will be fully deserved, and if we dont the only thing keeping us up will be that there are somehow 3 or 4 worse sides than us in the Prem.
You's are safe. Even when it went 1-1 you's looked the more promising side to score again, but suppose thats football, all it takes is for a few mistakes & within minutes the games turned on it's head - were a shining example The quality of football between the top 6 & the bottom are complete leagues apart. were gunna be another SPL in a few years... if it aint already happened.
Agree 100% with that. "The best league in the world".... with clubs who struggle to get 20,000 for their average home games (ie Wigan, Fulham) pushing for a european place. Nothing clubs with no history or fan base, only made possible by the Sky money giving small clubs a chance to compete with the big boys. The big 4 with a monopoly on the game, being the only ones reaching the champions league every year, therefore becoming richer and then using money to become stronger every year leaving the rest further and further behind. Sad state of affairs IMO, look at the likes of Blackburn, Leeds in the 90's and further back Clough's Forest when they won the title coming from nowhere to win it. Will never, ever happen again that like.
i think a euro super league like is being considered (man utd drop out of the prem completly) would be a class move tbh. massive euro games EVERY WEEK (i love whiping the greaseballs) the prem becomes more challenging for the lower teams. saying all this tho this premiership season has probally been the best of all, its so fucking close top to bottom... what yous moaning about just cos yr teams are shit. if we have 1/2 as good a season next year ill be happy, i have high hopes with super wolves and brum going back up, add sheff utd and it will be strong as fuck once again.
For once Im going to agree Title race has been pretty close - down to the second last game of the season Teams are still pushing for Europe - down to the last game of the season And the relegation battle - its the first time I remember that many teams being in & out of the bottom 3 (Blackburn, Portsmouth, Stoke, Man City, Spurs were all there or there abouts) The ones that are left have the final game to stay up I agree aswell tho, that the standard in the Premier League ranges from world class to barely championship class & the top 4 will continue to pull away next season (unless Man City buy every player under the sun)
