Animal charities, as the majority of their problems are caused by people.

I donate monthly to an environmental group (though it is primarily for animals), as if we fuck the environment up any more the question of animals or people will be irrelevant!

I note you say I would give money to people charities. You apparently don't give anything, at least regularly, and yet have the gall to say people who do give to animal charities rather than people ones make you sick. Are you really in a position to criticise?

This goes to everyone who has said the same sort of thing, not just Oasis.

    People.

I know it sounds a bit harsh, but I just don't care much about animals.:(

I have monthly direct debits donating to Cancer Research and the Spinal Injuries Association because they have personal significance for me.:)

Are you seriously telling me you couldn't afford to give £5 a month, even £2? One less drink on a night out, that's all it takes. You don't have to give huge amounts, even a little helps.

You say I am wrong for choosing the charity I do, yet you can't even be bothered to set up a direct debit and remember when it comes out? Ultimately you are choosing to keep the money yourself as you are too lazy to do anything else.

That's your call, but don't then criticise those who do give to animal charities, as it is better than not giving to anything at all, whatever your point of view.

I've already said I give to an environmental charity, as without protecting the environment there won't be any people or animals to worry about. And while it may sound harsh, the world is vastly overpopulated by people while huge numbers of species of animal will cease to exist soon if nothing is done about it. Therefore I would choose animals.

Jill, do you have a web address for them? :)

Does it also make you sick that the director of the NSPCC gets paid over £100k per year??? How many homeless kids could that help?? @ them. Thats why I prefer local/smaller charities, cos they dont pay their staff stupid amounts when it could be used better

That's a perfect example of what I was trying to explain in the lottery thread. People compain when money is donated to what is a worthwhile cause, like animal charities - yet claim that they don't have enough to give to charities, while at the same time spending masses of money every year on things that they do not need.

In the grand scheme of things, is going out clubbing at the weekend/the pub to get pissed really that essential when the money could be better spent elsewhere?

Obviously I am contradicting myself because I spend most of my wage on shite that I don't need, but I'd never the go ahead and criticise someone for actually bothering their arses to spend it on something worthwhile.

Again, not having a go at just Pete there but directing that at anyone else who's said/done anything similiar.

i dont have direct debits setup but i do contribute quite a bit, and generally speaking the main benefactors are probably cancer research and the pdsa.

cancer research has significance to me - in that it has blighted my family. i know the pain it causes and would like to think my money may make a difference.

on the flip side, i have relyed on the pdsa before, i've seen there work and anyone who thinks they should go unfunded, well - fair play. you walk into one of there centres and tell me it's not a valuable resource.

why the fuck do we take preference over animals? most of the damage done to animals is by us!

all of these charities we have highlighted are valid worthy causes. if someone thinks otherwise and thinks im 'sick' well, they can fuck right off. dont tell me how to spend my money - especially if you dont contribute in the first place.

so i have voted for neither.

Oh, it just sounded like millions of people were going to die cos I give a few quid to the PDSA.

The millions of starving people around the world are starving because of rich greedy bastards. For instance, HBOS made pre-tax profits of £3.06 billion last year. How many hungry people could that feed? Giving to charity helps, but doesn't solve the problem.

If people looked after the animals in the first place they wouldn't need saving.
