If i HAD to choose, id pick animals, i can obviously see why some would pick people instead, but as its already been mentioned, animals wouldnt need help if it werent for humans

Its not that often i donate money to charity, i should give more as others need it more than me, be it humans or animals

Humans...obviously. I obviously love animals to pieces and love my cats as if they were humans but of course I would choose giving my money to something like children who get abused rather than a dog that needs a home. Just my personal opinion though!

I donate what I can to a few select charities :)

I used to do loads to raise money for charity too, highlights being: standing on a block in the middle of Argyle St in Glasgow dancing to Steps - Tragedy dressed as a schoolgirl; getting gunged on telly; obligatory bath of beans; abseiling off tyne bridge and B'ham rotunda; having legs waxed; Halloween sleepover in haunted cellar of my pub; drinking day-old puke from a bin; etc etc.

I miss doing all that :(

Hard question and some interesting answers!

I donate to Animal charities but I would also donate to ppl, like I have for the trouble in Thailand!

I guess the reason I dontate to animals are that I feel more ppl dontate to ppl hence my reason to go for animals!

Also ppl can look after themselves or get help from other ppl when animals cant really look after themselves and depend upon ppl more!

if i won the lotto i'd give money to lots of charitys for both people and animals, i'd do what i could for those in desperate times (eg. tsunami stuff) i would also give probably an equal amount to animals. They are a very important part of my life, they are my children.

When you get a dog and have no interest in babies at all then your dogs become your babies. It's not really that hard to understand after all is it? I'm not saying i'd rather give to animals more than humans nor the other way round, i would never say that 1 charity was better than another, they are all very worthwhile causes.

not really though children who are being abused by parents etc have no1 to get help from really apart from people who work for charities...not being a pain I understand what u mean but animals are wild creatures anyways so have the ability to look after themselves more........makes sense in my head

But if we all gave to people charities, animals would have no way of getting looked after. This, in turn, would mean that more and more animals would die in the long term, thus leaving us living in a world without animals/nature and without a vital food source. Im looking at this in the very very long term I realise but without animals we'd be fucked anyway.

Sure some humans need help and support, not all of them do tho.

yeah I see your point there too! :D

Not all animals can look after themselves though such as cats etc they rely on us to feed them etc! Such as house pets and when they get left to fend for themselves outside they cant!

Not even remotely a fucking issue.

    People.

Ive often been baffled by this when i see people put animals ahead of people. Always just thought they were nuts.

Thats not being cruel to animals. Its just prioritising.

All charities are worthwhile causes whether they are for tsunami, cancer, blind, deaf, third world causes, animal welfare, etc etc etc.

It shouldnt be about who you would rather give to it should be about what you can do for each of them, everyone all over the world and animals all over the world that are less fortunate than us all need help. it's not about who deserves it more.

    Nail on head.

    Its personal preference.

I'd be more worried if we all said we gave to the same charities in fact.

i suppose it works both ways because if they need us so much its essential we give money for humans too or there would be none to look agfter them :p

Firstly, people charities. I'm not a major animal lover and I always think things like "If I give money to Cancer Research then they could find a cure, which could be helpful if I happen to get cancer in the future" whereas if I give money to saving a dog, it may grow up to give me rabies

But still, nothing against animal charities, it's just my preference.

Secondly...I have a direct debit to Cancer Research UK each month, as well as running the Childrens Cancer Run each April at Gosforth Park....more people should do it, it's only 5miles and it's not a race or owt. Usually only get like £20-£30 in sponsor money but it's something! Plus you get a free Greggs picnic and a medal at the end :D

Planning to run the Great North Run this year :)
