    Bad idea!!!!!

Sunderland is the worst place ever to have any kind of night like this. Anyone that is into music like this usually travel from Sunderland to other places and no one who doesn't live near sunderland is gonna travel there for a night, when they live in Newcastle which has any amount of house/trance neets.

Good luck and I'll probs come but it's a big gamble doing a night in sunderland. You'd be better off having it down Seaham Harbour.

Why do you have to do it in a bar/club? why not hire a space/function room instead and bring in your own soundsystem

Because they are essentially the same thing. Any space available for hire just wants to mess you around, despite throwing silly amounts of money at them. Different story if its a wedding/funeral/birthday party.

The only way to do it is buy your own plot of land, put a roof over it and tell anyone who interferes to fuck off.

Ward 10 managed to do it at that Voodoo place and they certainly didnt have big guests on (not big to the majority of people anyway)

you just sound like you want to success but arent willing to put the work in

Why dont you just bill it as a birthday party or something and then if its a massive success then they'll want you back.

If i owned a space i'd be very reluctant to let a load of bosh heads do a banging trance night because its going to be full of people on drugs. If you initially bill it as something else then they are more likely to let you do it.....and if the initial one is a success then the pound signs will become more important to them than the cowied up kids

Aren't willing to put the work in? Honestly mate, you dont know!

I sacked the original venue because they were messing me about, they couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery. It had nothing to do with being reluctant, they were just very badley organised and there was a serious communication problem between different members of the management.

Just for the record, older nights that I had run - my very first night was double booked with another event (with a famous sunderland radio station) and I didnt find out until we turned up on the night (guess who's event had to take the back seat)! My night there ran for about 3 months every week, did ok despite the bad start but in the end the venue got bought out and was closed.

Another night I started a nice little club at the top end of Sunderland managed to take money from me and not refund it, dispite my event being thrown out the window. Then they asked for a detailed business plan of what I wanted to do, after that and several meetings I found out they had stolen all my ideas and ran the night for themselves. The place was packed out and a huge success, which lasted just over a year.

They are the two best stories but I've been screwed over by so many different venue's its unbeleivable. Thats why this time I backed out the moment they started messing me around. Good news is though that I have been approached by a venue who are quite professional and told me they have a night availbe to hire.

Only problem is the venue is huge, though well equipped. I guess we'll see what happens, dunno if I'll go for it yet.

As I said above, have you not just thought of packing it all in?

Doesn't really seem like you've found your calling in life.

Your best bet is to pm someone called DetoxOverboard on this board.....he knows loads of mint places to do nights. I'd even consider him the best promoter in Newcastle....he certainly talks a good game

Of course I've often thought of it - the frustration, the anger, even a tear when you've put in so much hard work and effort then some fucker rips it to shreads! Its different if its yourself to blame.

However... :D I wont give up! The next step if this one doesnt work is to sell my business, get some extra funding, and then open a bloody club myself!
