The Sage were a nightmare to deal with. Very, very pricey to hire the venue. We were also a bit unfortunate with Digital opening the same night as our gig.

Took a while to persuade them to let us do the event as well. We kinda promised that Omid and Desyn would be 'live'. On the night Desyn was pretending to play live on his laptop

Was a great experience though. The dressing rooms were ace.

I would be very suprised if they would allow a trance event to be staged there.

It seems like the type of place ideal for one-off specials but not regular events, but I dunno really. Hassle is certainly one thing you dont need mind, I've had enough of that from venues already :bang:

In answer to your PM mate, id say no to the venue. If youv'e got the ££'s Carling Academy mate, Eddie Halliwell, Sander Van Doorn, John Askew, JohnO'Callaghn, Bryan Kearney etc.... the list is endless & could absolutly ram it - CERTAIN.

So you know that everywhere in Sunderland is shite, and they only get 50 people in on Friday nights...but you're going to start a new trance night anyway? Whats your next business venture? Selling Ice to Eskimo's?

Leeds is right in the middle of Yorkshire though! Millions of people live within an hours drive radius of Leeds, but Newcastle isn't like that!! Totally different situation there!

Quality thread, the 17 pages flew over!:)

leeds council is a lot keener to have 'cultural' (in the broadest sense of the word) events than newcastle is.
the police in newcastle have the last word in newcastle every time and they like to keep the lid on as tight as they can. leeds is a bit freer in my limited experience
