The MP in question (Dr Denis MacShane) gave the JC the BBC quote and the correct quote....

    That quote isn't anti-Zionist it's antisemitic!!!

Why do British born Jews have to accept the responibility for the actions of Israeli's?!?!??

That is not what the quote said?

    No it wasn't.

Denis MacShane stated the above, the BBC twisted his words (a frequent occurance) to paint global jewry in a negative light.... When confronted with their mistake, rather than apologising they covered their tracks further.

The BBC is not just anti-Zionist it is antisemitic.

do you know what nearby entails?

How can you criticise Israel's precission when you have no idea of where Hizbu'llah were positioned?

The hardest part to swallow for me is that Israel, who used to be world renowned for their special forces and quick insertion and hostage rescue methods couldn't sort this out without the use of cluster bombs and other indiscriminate weaponry.

Is this down to right wing elements within the Israeli government and defense ministry?

And that is not an anti-semetic/anti zionist statement, merely discussion.

Putting my usual wind ups, pisstakes etc aside for this one.

Mossad and Shin- Bet were shit hot in the 70's and 80's- top of their game and the worlds intelligence services looked up to them.
I just think it could have been cleaner and quicker, resulting in less casualties for both sides.

special forces take out small targets like, terrorist cells, individuals and lone positions... Israel were up against a terrorist army with over 30,000 ballisitic missiles... Different tactics are employed for different circumstances.

Mosad and Shabak are an asset to Israel, however during the 70's and 80's it was the IDF that fought in the War of Attrition, the Yom Kippur War and the Lebanon War.

    the bbc commentry...

the prime ministers were bang on the money.

Everytime that BBC gobshite opened his mouth he presented the Iranian problem as an Israeli fantasy... more so during the first half of the documentation than the second.

It's not like there isn't any doubt about the Iranian nuclear program?

In fact, there's no hard evidence of a weapon at all?

I sometimes think you want to see war in the region.

As long as the Muslims are dying faster than the Jews eh?

Preemptive strike on Iran -> retaliation by Iran, probably Hezbollah, maybe Hamas, Islamic opinion further polarised against Israel, along with an international community already sceptical about Israeli ability to minimise civilian casualties.

Come on Joe, you couldn't defeat Hezbollah, you've got no chance against all.

How many Israeli lives (I know how little value you attach to Islamic lives, so lets ignore them for the moment) are you prepared to trade to destroy these power stations? Because you are in cloud-cuckoo land if you think you're going to fly in, destroy them and the people in them, and have no response.

We've crushed bigger forces than Iran... I suggest you consult a history book as you're talking out of your arse again.

And yes, I do want to see an attack on Iran.

that page goes into great depth when talking about Israels alledged nuclear arsenal.... how much depth did it go into when discussing Iranian nuclear sites?

Quite strange when you consider the subject of the article.

The article is in no way shape or form as intense as the documentary (one is the reflection of a BBC comissioned director... most of whomare highly biased; the other the description of the documentary), but theres about 20 paragraphs describing how keen the Israeli's are to attack Iran... and very little on the justification for this opinion.

There's nothing pointing out the complete lack of evidence for an Iranian nuclear weapon, the right under international treaty for the Iranians to have a civil nuclear power program etc which an Israeli strike would deny.
